Hi Im studying towards a nvq 2 beauty therapy qualification and as part of this have to do work experience in a salon - can it be a home based salon? Also does anyone know someone homebased in the Romford/Chadwell Heath area who could help?thanks!

I think the best thing would be to ask your tutor and see what they say...

btw welcome to the site :green:

I run a homebased salon and am always approached by the local college re work placement. I always have to decline, firstly because I do everything in 1 room and I'm on a really tight schedule so I wouldn't have the time to give you.
Is there any particular reason you want to do homebased work experience?

because i don't have many salons near me - i have a salon quite near but it specialises in spray tanning so I dont think that is allowed so Im looking at all options! If anyone can help that would be great :D

the main thing withwork experience is health & safety.
things have tightened up a lot in the last couple of yrs.
they expect a cosh report and a health and safety report with risk assessment etc.
a lot of salons dont realise half of this, and as home based salon rarely employ stff, they may not b aware of this.
as said b4 check with your teacher 1st, then check the local ads for home based salons, even mobiles mayb, but they may not find it convenient for them.
the good news for you is when you are qualified, it looks like you wont have too much compitition!
good luck
