I started my nail tech course back in my home country but never got a chance to complete since I got to the US.

Many of my friends and customers loved glitter nails and I made some.

However, the glitter always mixed in with the regular gel etc..I have been googling for a tutorial video but have found none.

I was wondering if someone kindly could do a glitter tutorial with, one with gel and one with acrylic?

I am planning to work with acrylic in the future but would love to see how others work.

It would be very appreciated.

In the part of the US where I live now, glitter does not seem very hot. Mostly french.

Anyway, Thanks!

this is how i do glitter tips....

after you have applied your tips and prepped....

apply your bonder layer of gel and cure

apply a think layer of clear gel on the tip area (where you want the glitter)..no cure

dab the glitter on to that layer using a spare brush....cure

apply a layer of clear gel over the glitter area ONLY to seal the glitter...cure

apply your builder gels to the nail...pink/clear and build the shape...cure

wipe the nails and file/buff to shape and smooth...

remove dust and apply the topgloss gel....cure

wipe and your done.

Thank you!!

I almost do the same..

I apply gel and put it in the UV lamp, I guess this is called cure?

I wipe it off, and then apply gel to the tip where I want the glitter.

I dip the tip in glitter until I get a desired amount and then I take a brush and brush off the excess and also shape the smile.

Then I cure.

After that, theres the problem. I apply a thin layer of gel to seal it but I always get glitter on the brush(duh) and it goes into my regular gel that I do no want glitter in.

I cure and if I have applied to much gel I buff and file a little after wiping off.

Then I add the last layer of gel to sculpt and shape and cure and then I wipe it off and file and buff and put the gloss on.

I was just thinking maybe there was a quicker way.

How do you do with acrylics?

I think most people add the glitter to their powder and make their beads as normal. You can also make a bead and then dip the bead into the glitter and then apply.

another way to do it with gel is to [after usual prep] apply gel onto just the area you want the glitter and then dip into the glitter then cure. brush off any excess glitter after curing and then carry on applying the rest of the gel as normal.

I do loads and loads of glitter tips sometimes with two colours.

I do the usual prep, bond and base gel

then apply builder gel to the tips (similar to french) then dip the fingers into the desired glitter, tap off excess, cure..... or freeze if doing another colour, I usually dip the brush into the gel, tip each nail then add the second glitter colour to each nail doing the whole hand so as not to put glitter back into the gel then cure whole hand.

after this I shake the excess off the hand and apply builder gel over the whole nail cure taking care to check the brush before dipping back into the builder gel.....then shape.

Apply final gloss coat and cuticle oil.

Edited to add that the smile line can be shaped using a cuticle pusher to push the glitter into the smile shape.

Thank you everyone!

A tutorial for 2 glitters and glitter flames would be awesome! I have never tried 2 glitters. With freeze, you mean that you stick the customers hand in a freezer? I have never experienced 2 glitters or more, so please forgive me for my ignorance.

when we say freeze, what we mean is....
put the nail into a u.v lamp for 10 seconds or so. this 'freezes' the position of the gel and prevents it moving around whilst you are doing other nails. when all the hand is complete you must then give the gel its full curing time in the uv lamp to ensure it is set all the way through.

usually whilst one nail is getting its 'freeze' cure we will be working on a finger from the opposite hand and in this way we can alternate the hands until all are complete and we dont loose precious time.

Beautifully put! :green:

With the two glitters its just as easy to do all the fingers then full cure when finished as the glitter doesnt move so much.

With the glitter tips its important to cure or freeze each one (just alternating hands is usually enough as its quite quick to gel the tip and dip) if you dont the glitter and gel travels up the nail.

If you do the tips with glitter then dot the glitter gradually up the nail that looks good too.

Its about time I posted some pics for peeps to looks at! I have so many I dont know where to start!

Merry Christmas xx
