I've had a client in asking for a refund saying that her nails all just fell off after about a week of having them on but when she came in for me to see them her nails looked quite damaged. Would this have happened if they had just fell off or is it likely she's peeled them off?

If they look quite damaged, my guess is she pulled them off. If they just 'fall off', there is virtually no damage.

HTH and good luck! :)

Hi, I would definitely say they were 'helped' off, if the nails hadve fallen off then the nail plate would be smooth with no damage, also if it was something you had done ie prep then they wouldve started to lift after 2 days not a week hth and hope you did not refund her.

someone once told me that if you are unsure putting the nails under a uv light will show if they have been "helped off"

dehydrate them with sanitiser - damage (ripped plate layers) and pitting will show up as white lines/ patches

I would say that if they didn't look like that before you prepped the client and that your prep was correct ie remove shine and not severe etching then this is not your fault. They have been picked off! x

They've been picked off then. I haven't refunded her. Instead i have offered her another treatment as a good will gesture and she's said she wants a refund. My thoughts are on it that she had her nails done for her birthday and for xmas and now thats over with she wants her money back

I can tell if someone has peeled/picked off their nails. You can see uneven layers of their natural nail on the top, not just the free edge. Looks jagged, ripped, uneven. My clients have learned they can't lie to me about it because I can tell.........

Now sometimes if they have broken off it may look the same, but if she says they just fell off, she is lying. Nail enhancements don't just fall off. They may lift, but don't fall off. Of course this is based on my experience and just my opinion!!

If they just fell of, then where are they?
I'm sorry if I had a set of nails done and they pinged or fell of I'd be back to the tech and place the complete nails in front of her.
I had this once, a lady who had a wedding to go to came in the following week and said the nails had fallen of and waved her hands in front of my nose, I captured her hand, swiped the nail with scrub fresh and wonder of woders when that dried all those ridges and lines showed up. As I pointed out to her, she watched me remove the shine from her nails, in the direction of nail growth, so no I wasn't having it and no I wasn't giving her a refund or a new set. She'd even brought her husband with her who stood there with his arms folded glaring at me. The advantage of age, I just looked at him over the top of my glasses and told him to pack it in:lol: I offerd to book her in for the following tuesday with a deposit paid and then turned back to the client I was working on.
She did book in and paid full price. Stand firm hun, you know the standard of your work.
