Hi,
Just wondering if when having a client booked in for Individual Eyelash Extensions you can tint the lashes first then apply the lashes or you should tint 24 hours before?
Would appreciate some help please
Many Thanks

Always do your tint at least 24 hrs before fitting the lashes, this way the chemicals from the tint have definitely stopped working and wont react with the adhesive for the lashes, hth

Thanks Louby lou

I haven't personally done it, but I know several lashers that tint on the same day as the extensions. They do it for new sets as well as touchups. Just make sure you clean them well. If you need more info, let me know and I will get it for you. :) I personally would prefer to do it all at once...I just haven't had anyone needing it yet.

Hello,
Ive tinted a brides eyelashes and then did the extensions, as she has really blonde eyelashes. I didnt know this untill she came, so i had no choice. If you dont tint them and the lashes are light, then it will look soooo bad! As the eyelash extensions are dark and you would be able to see the diference in the colours. It didnt react or aanything so i think its okay...

I tint before i do extensions, I was trained this way. You need to make sure the eyelashes are clean and very dry before you start putting on the extensions. I've not had a problem so far with this method.

This is one of the reasons why an appointment for a consultation is a good idea before the appointment for the lashes fitting,
saves so much guess work and you can have all the right size lashes out and ready for when the client comes, hth

also if you are doing a patch test you would see the client before hand so know what colour the lashes are, i dont know if alot of people do patch tests but i do because knowing my luck i would end up with a client having a reaction to the glue, (rare but could happen) also if you are applying lash tint you should have done a patch test for that previously so would know the client had light lashes?.

So really you could be seeing your client over 3 appointments.

1 patch tests.
2 lash tint.
3 eyelash extensions.

i normally patch test all my new clients for everything! that way if they ever need something it saves me having to go and patch them again so even if they book in for manicure i ask if i can patch them for tan (if they havent had one before - i only put a small dot) tints, perm (i dont really do lash perm anymore) lash extensions etc, much easier for me, also it introduces more services for your client as alot of them dont know what some things are or wouldnt even consider them until they hear you chatting about them,.

I must ask who trained you please, although not carried out in the course it should be always brushed over.

Good idea to patch test early for possible future appointments, but if you had a new client for extensions and they needed a lash tint you would have to do 123 above?

That is what my trainer said. Tints should not be done at the same appointment but I was just clarifying 123 as I wrote above.

If you notice the time this was posted at that's why I asked here for clarification. :)

I was trained by Flirties.

Edited to say Oops, you didn't mean me. Sorry.

if it was a new client for lash extensions i would carry out lash tint (if required) at the consultation, as you are only applying a couple of lashe to the outer corner for the patch test and only really making sure they will not react (although they shouldnt as the glue doesnt touch the skin) it doesnt matter if the lashes fall off due to only just tinting and the client will be returning for a full set in the next few days!
