Hi geeks

I have been considering doing a Ladies pamper & shopping event to raise money for cancer research, in a local hall or community centre.
I have attended a few in my area in the past (they dont hold them that often) but when they do they always end up going really well.

Has anyone done a charity event? How did it go? And does anyone have any ideas i could incorporate into this event?

Ive never done anything for charity before so i thought it would be nice to put my bit in.
Thanks.

i didi one and went dreadful but would be good to link it with one if the charity are doing it one themselves like macmillian as mentioned.

Last year a girl did pedicures, manicures and facial's at a cancer research relay for life and believe me you needed a pedicure after walking all those miles :)

Hi
We recently had an event at my salon in aid of ovarian cancer action and their 'Love Women' campaigh. We had 15mins mini treatments at a cost of £5.00 the treatments were mini facials, manicures, indian head, hot stones and reflexology. We also had a gazebo outside with face painting mini makeovers and nail painting for the kids. We also had lots of prizes donatored by the companies we use Art deco sent a lovely goody bag full of make-up, Sunjunkie sent 6 bottles of their retail products environ sent loads of mimuture products. Each client also recieved a goody bag sith samples in and literature on awarness of ovarian cancer ( this is something very close to my heart as I recently lost a close family memeber and a month later a close friend) and all the salons literature. The clients loved them. We managed to raise £500.00 in six hours all the money went to the charity. We have gained a lot of follow on business through this event. We are now planining a pamper evening with a fashion show. Hope this helps you with some ideas:)
