Caring for natural nails whilst training?

How would you professional ladies recommend that i care for my nails whilst training?
I will be using tips, acrylic and gel.
Had tips put on 4 of my nails tonight and they look in really bad condition already
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Dont let other students touch your nails! lol best advice I can offer... I didnt allow anyone to do my nails (Guineapig I was not!) and I watched everyone else mutilate each others nails... I only ever did my own, it was the best way to learn file control as I could feel it, both in the pressure I was using with my filing hand and in the nails being filed.. to this day years on, no one has touched my nails lol

That is a good idea about doing my own nails.
Well i am getting them done professionally on saturday for a wedding so i will be safe next week but i think i will be doing my own as often as i can.
Unfortunatly we can never get enough people willing to let us practice on them so that we don't have to have our own done.
The problem tonight was that the woman was on go fast and just seemed to go mad, she needs to slow down and concentrate a LOT more.
The tutor did comment about her rushed work and i will be finding a different partener!!!!!!!

If you feel you cant say no (you always can thou your nails belong to you - dont feel pressured as its YOU who has to deal with the damage caused for the next 6 months until they grow out!) if u feel u cant say no then please feel u can stop her when u know shes about to damage your nail... learn to say STOP if u cant say NO hun

Yeah i did tell her tonight quite a few times, problem is it didn't seem as bad until i got the tips off.
Thing is i have we have to practice on someone don't we.
I always have my nails short but tidy as i do beauty and massage treatments so not worried about the length just wanna have them looking in decent condition
Can't really do maicures with mankey nails. :irked:

are you able to bring in a model for yourself to work on? I found by advertising for ppl thru the internet, and free papers I had women lining up for free sets.. I had about 6 Lady's I could rotate thru.. that keeps you busy, practising and keeps your nails safe.

We only get to take people in once we have done som basic training :irked:
Can't wait to get real clients already, lol.
So do you get many clients in the south pole then?

hiya, this is my worry too, ive just started my vtct course tonight and have been told we will be practising on each other for a few wks, im dreading it. i used to be a nail biter but have finally kicked the habit and im really proud of my nails now!
i know we'll only be practising for a little while on each other but im shaking at the thought of it! lol!
