We do not encourage the naming and shaming of any product, company or training provider here on the site.

I'm sorry for your bad experience. Learning by making mistakes is a really bad way to learn, huni. If doctors used that way of learning there would be allot of dead people about!

I do think that those who think they can learn a profession in one day and pay hard earned cash for this type of training are very naive.
How could you even think you could learn a profession in one day?
But having said that, you are not the only one who thinks this. I never know why? Would you do a one day hairdressing class and expect to go out and to earn a living at hairdressing??

WHY IS IT SO DIFFERENT WITH NAILS??

WHY DO SO MANY HOLD THIS PROFESSION IN SUCH LOW ESTEEM?

It Makes my blood boil.

I'm still learning now and I've been at it for over 3 years!

I went to the Carlton Institute for some beauty training, which was very intense.

There's only so many times that someone can show you how to do an eyebrow tint IYKWIM, with nails, it's a whole different ball game. I'd be appalled if someone was doing my nails and I'd found out that they'd only completed a one day course, with nobody 'checking' their work two weeks later.

I done my first course with Carlton...4 day intensive....there is no way you will cover everything, and espically all the contradications, and complications you get with nails, you will still have to do more courses after your intensive course, this one will not make you a pro tech after this course, it will only get you a diploma ...which basically they give you the answers to pass you anyway, the test is dead easy and so from there your chucked in the deep end and left to find things out for yourself.

They dont train you in a proffesional brand, and I knew none the wiser at the time ,and spent loads dosh on different acrylics and gels from Sallys which were no good...But through a hell of alot of practising, posting on Salon Geek and doing a further two conversion courses to two proffesional brands..I think Im actually getting somewhere, and that was two years ago I done my Carlton course,to be a nail tech does not come in one day!

If you do a search on here, the Carlton has been discussed before, and TBH it hasnt had very good comments.!

I did some training at the Carlton Institute with our Bombalurina on here and it was excellent! I did the training on a machine that I bought from them and I have to say, she was very thorough and patient with us. I really liked the fact that they only train you one salon at a time even if there is only 1 of you!

Good luck with your nail course ~ I personally don't do nails (only manicures and pedicures) but I imagine it's a lot like any other aspect of life, you need to persevere and practise makes perfect! Grab as many hands you can get and practise practise practise xx
