Hi Geeks,
Just wanting a little feedback if thats OK. I need to change my business name as I found out last week that someone local has already been using the name and it is a copyright/registered business name with Companies house. I am fine with that as I just settled on a name but wasnt too sure if I liked it enough. Also I have only been in business for a few months so I wont be losing anything really.

I am in Norfolk and was wondering if "Norfolk Broads" would be a name that would be good . I want to appeal to local people but also sound Posh, Ideally I want to attract discerning customers. Is the name too corny ? I even toyed with " Bootiful U " ( Play on the Bernard Mathews slogan another local well known name) or will that make my customers feel like a bunch of old Turkeys?
Maybe "Iceni" adding something about Bronze as in the Bronze age ( Were they after the Bronze age?)

I am stumped girls and guys.
I do Nails and Tanning (Male and female on the tans) and planning to add further services as and when finances allow further training so dont want to restrict the name to only one or two services. I started out as Tanfastic but dont think it is suitable any longer.

Eagerly await some replies

It's great that you're being so creative about the range of names and inspirations. And well done on dealing with this problem with such a positive attitude!

I like Norfolk Broads but I'm not sure it's as posh as you'd like it to be?

Norfolk Beauties?

Hi
Seems like you pleased to be changing it....
Yeah hard to pick something not cheesy I like neveah ( heaven backwards)
Or how bout seeing what beauty is in other languages say Latin ?
Or maybe using your name to keep it original...
What's your name or favourite words to give us something to go from hun?

Unfortunately my name isn't very Exotic and I was hoping to steer away from something like "Beauty by Nikki", My name is Nikki Winder and People do get my last name wrong quite often. I have been called Wonder, Windsor, Winnder etc.
How about "Wonder Women":p

I am originally from South Africa and speak a few languages but have to have a good think on that one, wouldn't it alienate customers? I love everything foreign so maybe they will love something mysterious sounding.

Thanks for the replies so far,
Hope to get more

suppose its gotta work for norfolk hmm....

maybe - country chic
- norfolk heaven
- bliss by nikki
- beauty bumpkin
- all about you
- norfolk nouvelle

good luck let us know what you go with x

What about 'Belle of the Broads'

Sorry, "Norfolk broads" sounds more like an escort agency imho!

lol at the "old turkeys" - i don't think using "bootiful" sounds in any way posh or upmarket hun, sorry!

I haven't any good ideas though but will post again if I can come up with anything!

xx

I love Iceni - but then I love all things historical. They covered a greater period then the bronze age so I would maybe steer clear of that, also having bronze/ bronzed in your name suggests to me that you are focusing on tans.

ikwym, but sometimes the creative juices start flowing when the mind goes a bit floopy,
LOL at the escort agency, at least they'd have a nice tan and good nails.

My Bootiful Broads would go down a treat at the local farmers market. LOLSM

I have got to get my mind cleared of the silliness and get thinking.
Thanks , it made me smile

Thanks, you are right I dont want to focus on only one thing, have got to think of something that encompasses nails and tans...but posh too

Ooh that's clever!

Chrysalis too obvious I guess.

Papillon means butterfly in French? La Belle Papillon?

Morph? lol (sorry)

erm . . .

The Butterfly (beauty?) Room / Lounge ?

Yes I was wondering about something using Papillon or Chrysalis as well but stuck on Mani-Tan at the moment. Aaaarggh. Are there any Butterfly names that sound pretty or enticing ? I will have to google, all I remember is the Red Admiral which just wont do, and Painted Lady brings me back to the Escort Agency. LOL

Morph.. how about Morphalicious
:p

La Belle Papilion is nice!

Although, as it's French, they put the adjective after noun... So it would technically be La Papilion Belle..

Lol having an English degree comes in handy sometimes!

xxx

LOL

Sorry I nearly spat my drink out when I read about the bunch of old turkeys!!! LOL

How about Norfolk Broads & Beauties?

Good luck whichever name you use!

xx

How about Nikfolk nails? So your combining your name and where the salon is :)

Sorry just read that you over tanning and hopefully more services so how about nikfolks nails & beauty

Butterfly names

Cleopatra
Painted lady

Any way I have been thinking long and hard and all the suggestions have helped. unfortunatley Afrikaans doesn't sound too good when pronounced in the english way iykwim, but my Mothers hometown was re-named when the new government made all the changes so boring old " Warmbaths" was renamed in the local tribal tongue and is now " Bela Bela " ( Meaning when roughly translated -Hot bubbling water or to us ladies and lads that use these services, Warm Springs /spa) I was wondering if that would be a good name as it is similar to the mediteranean languages words for beautiful, but has a link to my routes.( oops meant roots, must have had one of those fuzzy blonde or senior moments)

Or does Bela Bela mean something rude in another language .LOL

If I use Bela Bela I could do two B's back to back as suggested in a different thread and that will bring me back to the butterfly motif.

What are your thoughts? Any replies would be greatly appreciated. I need to get my website sorted and get a new domain name, new business cards, change all my adverts and links. Happy days
