This is a bit of a weird one,

A nail client of mine was asking why I only have one fixed price for spray tanning. (I thought everyone did!)
The reason she was asking was because she'd seen a leaflet which showed prices according to how big of a body you have!
I didn't think too much of it, thought she might be getting it wrong but next time she brought the paper in and she was right!

It goes like this:

Extra small frame: £x
Small frame: £x
Medium frame: £x
Large frame: £x
Extra large frame: £x
Extra Extra large frame: £x

The prices go up in £2's.

Would it be because more solution is use on a larger person? Does it really make much difference to the amount of solution?

Does anyone else price like this? If everyone starts pricing like this I'll probably have to re-mortgage the next time I want a spray tan!

Goodness dont think i could do this. How rude.

I have never heard of that before but I think its a bit rude!! You feel self conscious enough without being classes as a "large frame" how do you determine who is large and who isnt? Its all down to interpritation isn it?

ooooooh I say I think thats sooooo rude!!!

Oh right, thank god you've all said that, I was thinking I was doing something wrong!

Even if everyone was doing that, I couldn't bring myself to I don't think, I'd feel awful!

I have a 'full body price' and a 'part body price', eg upper torso, arms and face, but I wouldn't dream of pricing according to size of client! How rude! x

I believe our job is to make people feel better about themselves. If someone charged me at an xlarge frame, I have to say it would take something away form my tan experience. Like you don't walk in to clothing shop and get charged differently for different clothes size. To me it sounds like there could be a legal issue????

I realy don't think this is the way to go...larger people already feel down right awkward ..this doesn't realy help does it??

As previously entioned it is more than acceptable to have two tarrifs...full body and part/top up tan.

The cost of liquid per spray realy doesn't work out much in comparison to the charge to the customer so I realy don't see it as being relevent....

What about extra tall people ???

Under this scheme you would also have to give a discounted rate to a short skinny person...:lol:

Someone the size of an umpa lump is going to pay next to nothing for a spraytan

Can you imagine saying to someone "well you're a bit of a big un so it's ££ extra"
OMG:eek:

Yeah i dont think you can do this, im reasonably slim but im 5ft 11" so would i be classed as large??

Also people perceive themselves in different ways you may get someone who things they are small but you think differently.

Id say this is a no go as think this could potentially put clients offf

xx

I price mine as
full body spray tan
1/2 body spray tan

next time you spray someone at around 5 ft tall look at how much solution you use and record it,
then when you next do someone a lot taller record how much solution you use for them,
or do this descreatly for a small person and larger person,
there is very little difference as to the amounts we use

I totally agree I would not dream of charging someone if they were larger. (it was mentioned when I did my training that you should charge more as it uses more solution) I thought the lady was joking at the time.
I tan short, tall, large and petite men and women and I only had 2 charges one for full body and one for half body. I would not like to be sprayed and then the person say well thats £s as you are so and so. I would get it cheaper though hopefully as I am petite and slim so would that mean Id get it cheaper ha ha. silly idea I think personally.

I can just see it.....roll up roll up...50% discount for all you ompa lumpas out there ...but if your a size 24 im gonna have to charge you double :lol:

sorry but im just feeling a bit  today

...and where would the 'sizing' end? If someone wants waxing do you then say because your legs are XXL it's going to be more? Or £2 extra on your massage because your back is bigger than average. RIDICULOUS and offensive! x

lmao

Ha Ha i have a spare set of tweezers if you want to give them to your wife lol xxx"

I agree, it is offensive! but.. you DO find different prices for larger sized clothes in the shops!

Im about 8 stone wet through so would i be free????? 2 sprays & ill be done ....

Seriously though how cheeky is that !!!

Someone once told me they got charged more for a manual tan as they were tall! I was stunned. You'd have to calculate peoples skin surface areas, silly if you ask me a tall slim person may have the same surface area as a short plump person! This is taking penny pinching to the extreme. It's like charging more or less for a leg wax on different body sizes, you can't penalise people because of their body shape, it's not always due to them!
