and just told mum to top up on top coat in 3 days time to make them last a bit longer....but I just don't know what the right age is and also would I need a consent form for my Insurance ???? Please help !!!!

I won't do it on them under 16, they have no idea how to look after it, do all sorts of childlike things still and bite and pick. Then mummy will complain and it will make me look bad. Hmm.

I agree about the insurance thing but anyways lol ...

You did the right thing, no gel polish or acrylic under 16 yrs old, their nails are paper thin at this age xx

The manufacturers and their associations all say that their products should not be used on children. Every pediatrician and dermatologist I know says not to. There is some disagreement about exactly what that age is but certainly not under 14. You were smart to offer such an excellent alternative; I can't imagine she was disappointed at all.

No the mum and the girl was happy I just hope it lasts .... [emoji106] xx

I wouldn't do it if they are under 16 but saying that the only person I have done gel polish on is my 13 year old sister but that is only because she is my sister x

Definitely look at your insurance. I also only do gel polish on over 16s and 16 - 18 I ask for written guardian/parental consent, and the consenting adult has to accompany them. I have done a file and standard varnish/nail art on friends children under 16, but I still get parental consent. And I only do them if they have previously used polish/remover without allergic reaction. But as a rule I don't do under 16s for all the reasons Blossom said.
I would be concerned about allergic reaction if they haven't been exposed to a product before. This is just my approach.

I second all the posts above. Also, kids nails are naturally more oily than adults and wont last long anyway so they'd probably get as long out of a normal polish!
