Hi all
Ive had a request in the salon, many parents are asking if their children can have acrylics put on......They have said that their children have had them done before. The children are aged 11 -15, I really dont know if i should do them or no.
What do you all suggest??

Ive started offering princess pamper sessions and also parties but that just involves nail polish and bits and bobs but not acrylics and they are more interested in acrylics???
Can anyone help?

Kristy

ooooh no not age 11 thats too young to be fair, and when the mum says they have had them done before, i bet your life they havent otherwise why are they not going to the same place as before.
You can do the pamper parties but offer a wacky range of colours for the younger ones and nail art on the natural nail, they will love it but they wont love it if a nail tip comes off and rips and damages their own little nails will they? and their mums wont either!

i'm sorry but i can not imagine an 11 year old sitting well enough and behaving the whole time it takes to do the process, nail art and lots of it on their natural nails should do, it's mums not them asking for it encourage them to grow their tiny nails by making them look pretty when they are older fair do's but not that young

I totally agree with you guys!
I have bitten my nails all my life and i think that if i'd been taught to look after my nails from a young age eg having them painted etc then i wouldn't be needing acrylics now.
It just doesn't seem like their nails have developed fully at that age.
What age would you say is ok to have acrylics?
Kristy

i also had bitten my nails up till dec and i stopped now really long and i had to cut them woo hoo, my daughter is 9 and i am always painting her nails as i dont want her to bite them, i'm getting there, i would never let her have acrylics till she was an adult though x
