Hi all you hair geeks, I'm after a bit of info as a retail customer.

Are all OTC shampoos and conditioner no good? I usually buy professional ones but I live in a small town & everyone seems to carry the same lines.

What should I look for in the products? Not so much brand names, but what ingredients are good/bad.

I tend to get alot of scalp irritation, I know sulfates contribute to this, but is there anything else?
