With Christmas looming i thought we could share some money saving tips for christmas...

This is one i have just come across and think its pretty good... Christmas dinner on us - Morrisons

So you save 4 till receipts for £40 or more each and you hand them in and get a voucher for £20.........or better still...go to your inlaws for Christmas dinner...and apart from having to watch dads trying to work their new gadgets and mums stumbling round the kitchen cos of too much sherry...its FREE

oh the prospect of Chrimbo at the MIL's :irked: An even cheaper option would be to get some Zopiclone from the docs...take 2 on Christmas Eve and I'll see ya Boxing Day  Now that's what I'd call a stress free Christmas :green:

Brilliant idea Angie, I'll have a little look around and see what I can add to the thread.

Zopiclone for chrimbo intstead of prospect of spending time with inlaws, pmsl Ang

Due to the recession Santa had sadly had to lay off many of the elves he has working for him therefore there will be fewer presents available this year.:green:

Boots 3 for 2 are always good as is signing up to email alerts from Argos as they include many offers.

I actually have lot's of books to but this year, does anyone know of any offers eg 3 for 2 on books anywhere ? Many thanks x

I'm not sure about 3 for 2's on books but I think tesco or asda are brilliant for them...they're generally half price, or at least way cheaper than wh smiths. The only narky factor is we try our hardest to buy what can for the kids and family etc only to see it wayyyyyyy cheaper 2 days after the BIG day is over :irked:
Every year I say I'm going to buy loads of stuff in the January sales to put away for the next chrimbo but I never have any money left to do it

Thanks hun.most of them say half price ..... but they're the same price everywhere .... it's just lower than the price on the back of the book iykwim.

Anyone else ? I'd be very greatfull,i have at least five to buy  x

Wh Smith, usually has 3 for 2 offers on books xx

steak !!!...its so cheep at the mo....go to your butchers. People just ain't buying it and they should be (unless they are veggies of course)...cos i just got £22 worth of rump for £10

Loads of places are doing half price toys...sainburies....asda...tesco

Have you tried the book people Becki? They have quite a few offers on.

Becki I always buy books from The Book People - unless there is a specific book you are after.

I got 10 James Pattersons for £4.99 - I am a big fan LOL.

I love him to, hubbie keeps making jokes about Alex Cross saying he will turn out to be a murderer in the last book!

The Book People are fab I've bought some books for Christmas last year and this year and I've never been disappointed.

Here is a present that will appeal to couples/singles with young family:

A voucher for a night of babysitting from your good self!!!

It sounds really naff actually but we are asking our friends for this for xmas!!

Becki,

As some have already said, The Book People are fab - but also try Red House - a "sister company" of TBP I think?? I've just had a delivery from both company's - covers most of my xmas gifts and all from the comfort of my own home....

On another note, not sure if anyone's interested in this but..... we have an American Express Nectar card that we use for out food shopping each month and then PAY OFF THE BILL IN FULL at the end of the month. You can link this to your nectar card and earn points everytime you shop anywhere!
I save all my points for xmas and then you can spend them in a variety of places including Argos and Sainsburys - so far this year we've got £75 worth - so I went shopping this morning and spent most of that in argos on xmas pressies.
Considering it hasn't cost me anything as I've always paid the bill in full - I think it's great! You can also do the same by getting a Sainsbury's Credit card - just ring nectar to link it to your card.

dont know about books but i have bought a ton of stuff from play.com this yr , lol theres some really good deals on !! i got dave the ice road truckers box set in the sale (lmao i love him that much , haha) and it was only £12  i also got him some other dvds and they were cheap too , haha

I tell you what is fantastic, if you are with lloyds tsb and have a debit card and a savings account you can do something called 'save the change'.

Basically if you spend 20.99 on a debit card the penny goes in to the savings account and same if it was 2.01 the 99p would go across.

You don't think about it until you look at your statement quarterly to see how much it adds up to. I roughly put in about £10 a week without me knowing, so come christmas theres my money!

I love morrisons I get lots for my money (more so than anywhere else I have found!) and this new offer is excellent. Its worth doing your shop in two lots so you get two vouchers a week. I'm gutted though as I have just moved house and there is like the biggest asda i have ever seen. Managed to spend £53 on cleaning stuff in 5 minutes!!!! Theres over 50 double aisles. If I am not on here for a week or so you know where I am lol! So much for saving money!!!

I wanted some cheap pj's so went into primark. I bought a pair of black satin, with and oriental style top, they are lined so nice and snug and look very glam £5 :!: An absolute bargin and they don't look cheap and nasty and make a great wrap up.

Ps i did buy another style in satin, but the quality was no where near as good,it's only the ones with the oriental top . Hth's someone

Ps thankyou all i got the books ,they were the same price everywhere xx
