I am having THE WORST WEEK as far as my tools are going.. First i rust up my much loved nippers.. now just the other day i smashed my class soak off bowl ((that sat so nicely in its little warmer **sniff**)) So i went out to replace my nippers yesterday and saw these plastic type soak off bowls.. they said to be used for soak off .. but i have just soaked off my last set and i have a layer of white gunk that seems to be embedded in the plastic..

I added a couple drops of cuticle oil.. a few glass beads then a small amount of acetone and at the end of the soak off i gave it a scrub with a little acetone then soap and water ((as i did with my glass bowl and it would come up lovely..))

Is this a lost cause?? I know some of you must must have plastic soak off bowls as they are so readily available.. is there a special cleaning tecnique or do i just use it as it from now on..

((I'm not asking what you do as far as soaking off goes but rather how you clean your plastic bowls after.. or if they should even be used in the first place???))

Its not you!...I don't have any luck with plastic bowls either... or any plastic that says its acetone safe.. I ALWAYS manage to melt it with the acetone (now dont laugh but I have some how even managed to melt the handle off a prostyler!).. don't ask me how!... bowl wise I use glass or stainless now.. but have just got a shiny new Sonic touch which I cant wait to arrive :)

well i bought 5 of the cheap and nasty!! I'm going back to glass!! I spose they will come in handy during mani.. if i add some fizz balls.. but they will probably stain and all!!
im looking up that one your getting.. sounds good.. mentioned alot on here!
thanks CC.. i feel better that it wasnt just another chels moment!

 ur definately not alone

I wont say what I dropped this week  lets just say it was rather expensive  so you know its not just you having a chite week

Are you referring to the black trays with individual finger wells?

After use, just empty the contents out & wipe, then rub over the plastic with some cuticle oil on a pad & the white marks will disappear.

Wiping with acetone will create white marks, not remove. :)

Excellent suggestion Apex. I have only ever had the clear plastic kind, and I only ever use them for manis, but they still end up looking cloudy and icky, even though I have scrubbed the beejees out of them! I might give this trick a go and see if it helps.

From the sounds of it, the extra spend on ceramic is well worth it for presentation's sake.
