I have a client who is fairly new, I placed a full set of L&P with white tips just before Xmas, she phoned me today to ask if I would go round to infill her nails.
So I asked her if they was all ok as it had been a long time since I had done them...she goes oh yes they are all on and fine, which I thought strange because she told me that she picks at them...anyways then she goes on to say the reason they are all on is because she had glue the 4 that had come off, back on
Now she wants me to go round and infill them, still with them glued on like that!

Im not sure what to do? please could you advise me

No way!!

You're best to soak them off and start again. You can't refill them if they are glued on as it will lead to all sorts of problems and more than likely a baterial infection

An*gel is right. The 'glued' areas will more than likely already be growing bacteria and will inevitably break in those spots anyway.

Thank-you both

I think I knew this already but she caught me by suprise with this information. The thing is she used to do her own nails and is a bit yeah it's fine I just glued them back on etc

To be honest I have a feeling I will lose her as a client over this because she will see no wrong with it , no matter what I say!
I will have to give her a ring and say that as a professional I cannot go around doing work like this, plus on like you say there is the chance of bacteria. So I guess she has them removed or not to do them right?

What about tweaking your approach:

"As a pro, I am sure you know that we have to soak these off to prevent the already growing bacterial infection and to make sure they don't pop off next week!"

Yes agreed your wording is better than mine lol

Thank-you for helping ..gotta love this site :)

Glad I could help :)

If I were you, I would say that I understand her situation and I'll tell her to have a new full set and I'll give her free infilled if she won't glue herself back next time.

I did that before as my client did that too and when I soaked them off she saw the bacteria under neat the extension herself and she will understand why we recommend her that way.

HTH...

No, I would NOT offer a free infill next time. That opens the door to a whole host of problems.
If a client can't respect the work and enhancements, and the qualifications of the Tech... why should the tech pay out of her own pocket?

It's one thing when WE goof and want to make it right.

It's quite another when a client simply refuses to follow after-care advice and doesn't keep up with regular maintenance.

If they client keeps on gluing, she can keep on paying for the new nails.
Infills are less costly for the client than removals and new sets. Perhaps remind her of this?

I agree with you VHunter I do not want her thinking that she can do this and get things for free..

BUT...

I have left a message for her to the words of MR GEEK and also only this time I would soak them off for free, if she would like a new set only because they attached by adhesive which shouldn't take long. But I told her it's the full price for the new set.
But Im not offering no infills for free or offering a free soak off again for free
Do you think that's fair enough?

Definately needs a new set, I mean, it's been 6 weeks! Now is the time to explain that regular maintenance will be less expensive than if you go more than a month.

One thing you can do is have a 2 week price, 3 week price and 4 week price. Gradually getting more expensive. This is a better way to offer an incentive to come in regularly.

She obvioulsy feels good about the service she received, and with good reason. So why would you need to do "damage control" by offering a free refill?

Hi their,
Can not believe the cheek of it..to glue them back on and then ask for a infill..

A little update
The lady got back to me and is going to have the old glued on one's removed and have a new set.
However she did say that she had been glueing them back on this way for years!
I don't hold out much hope for her to revert back to her old ways etc, but we will see.
Anyway thank-you to everyone for your comments :)
