I had a new client today for a Creative Spa Manicure. She had previously used the a Nail Bar in Milton Keynes (which has now gone). She told me that every time she had a manicure she had to buy the bottle of nail polish used and was told that it was unhygenic to use the same bottle of polish on more than one person. She either had to buy the polish or supply her own polish.

Is this right? if so I have been doing it wrong for a long time now. I always make sure that the nails are cleaned thoroughly with a nail plate cleanser (scrubfresh) before applying any nail polish treatment.

I do provide a "paint and go" service whereby the client can have their nails painted and purchase a bottle of the said polish if they wish to, or they can just have a mini mani with a nail paint without purchasing the polish.

I would love to hear your comments on this one.

Haha, they are just out to make money, taking advantage of clients that don't know the difference. There is NOTHING in a bottle of nail polish to feed bacterial, viral or fungal growth. There is nothing wrong with using a bottle of polish until it is gone, on as many people as you wish.

sounds like someone ripping people off to me....sure if the client wants to buy it...but to be told they have to buy it if they have it is rubbish...

is she made to buy the comb and scissors that her hairdresser uses too....disgraceful IMO

Wow! 10 out of 10 for the salon, what a wonderful way of making money:rolleyes:
IMO not the best way of building clientelle relationships. If my salon made this a rule with every nail paint and mani/pedi we would be pricing ourselves out of the market. (of course we have available enamels for a client to purchase, if they choose)

Shocking!!! I would never ask a client to bring their own nail polish in or buy one of mine, they would tell me just what to do with my polish.

The fact that the salon now seems to be out of business speaks for itself.:green:

Just another incidence where people are being 'scared' into buying things by being given misinformation.

I agree that making clients scared into buying a product may just have had something to do with them not being in business anymore......

Never heard of a salon doing this. No wonder they are no longer trading. yes, I think my clients too would tell me where to put my polish. What a terrible act to do to clients.:irked:
