I had a client come to me with their nails & nail bed separated at the free edge, But the enhancements were intact. She had a set put on somewhere and they lifted on her so she riped them off. Then she came to me for a set of acrylics (medium length) and when she came back for fills her nails had separated from the nail bed at free edge. I followed all of CND instuction on nail enhancements so I know it wasn't applied incorrectly. The only thing i can figure is her nails were weak from the ripe off and because of her job causing her to use her nails it put to much pressure on weak nails and it separated. I shorten the enhancements and told her to keep them clean, and that we would keep her nails very short till they grew out,it worked. What would you do? Do you think thats what was causing the separating?

I would say that the length of them, the fact that her job causes trauma PLUS the abuse she did to her nails all add up to the reason why she's have problems.
You've done the right thing by shortening them, I would also encurage her to use Solar Oil on the underside of her nails as well as usual application.

Solar Oil will help with the condition of the nail and skin on the underneath (as well as above) but it won't keep the area bacteria free, your client will have to ensure her cleanliness is top notch while the nail is separated (not saying it isn't usually of course :wink2:).

I was worried at first about keeping the enhancements on her because the filing each time she had a refill might make them loser and recede farther up her nail bed, but i was careful and held her nail down slightly when I shortened her nail so the nail didn't move that much.
