I have many clients from an 'affluent' background. having a chat the other day I was asking about the clients teenage daughter, who had finished her a levels, I ask what she is going to once she had finished?

"Well" she said " I have told her she's got to go to university, but she wants to do nails. I've told her there's no career in that and she's to bright to waste her time making people look good"

I almost laughed out loud thinking, in about 20 mins your about to pay me 100 quid for two hours work and another 60 on products..... Yer no chance of making money is there??????

Its amazing how narrow minded people can be, every time i have a client pay i always calculate how many hours i would of had to of done in my previous day job to make that kind of money and it reminds me of why i love my job so much. I dont think people realise how rewarding the beauty industry can be if you put the work in, its not a hobby its career and we should be seen as any other business women/man aiming for sucess in life!!

i was about 8 months preggers and this guy rang the salon wanting to know what i look like in a bikini. i couldn't stop laughing. HE hung up on me. serves him right, the spanner!

Hahaha! One guy asked of he got to pick who massaged him. Yeah we will stand in a like shouting pick me pick me!!!

i was on a subway in NY once when a black man standing beside me asked me where i was from. i said ireland. he said 'man , i ain't never seen anyone as white as you in my life. you can see the veins in your wrist are blue'. i thought it was quite funny, he was so shocked.

Are the blue veins from your "Royal" side.

I as at one of my long-standing regulars a couple of weeks ago (I'm mobile) and an acquaintance of hers was there..... The appt was for a re-do of OPI Axxium and Minx toes.... Well, the aquaintance just starts saying how wierd it is that people actually pay to have their nails done, how she can't imagine having 'that stuff' on her nails, how she can't understand what would make people have someone like me come (all while I'm sat there doing my very lovely client's nails!). Basically that's my career you've torn to shreds then :D.

My lady was justifying herself, which IMO she had no need to do, and when she was singing the praises of Minx toes the aquaintance said 'maybe in the summer I'll force myself to have it if it's so good' - all said looking so far down her nose at me..... I did point out that I am fully booked a lot of the time so there's not need to put herself out on my account - I don't need favours :D!!!

When I saw my lady next she asked me if I had found her aquaintance rude, and I told the truth..... Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but there is no need for rudeness!!

Apologies in advance... Rude..

set the scene..

Took my 18 yr old daughter for her first spray tan (for her party) with a good friend of mine... She has never bothered with make up etc til now! ?
She asked what do I wear, I said she can wear as much or little as she likes Her reply was " she wont wanna tan me minge will she !?" not so prim and proper after all ...

Still giggle even now... ;))))

**Oops sorry this in wrong forum**

pooh how did you know...haha that's why i wear a purple uniform.....purple ah the colour of the cesars.... you can just call me goddess or something equally befitting from now on ...thank you

Dear lord, woman! He's just a lad of 22!!

He is tall, dark and handsome, if I do say so myself. And I do say so myself. :wink2:

22 perfect I'm 21. I'll buy a plane ticket NOW ha!
Well done for reproducing a stunning man. What ever colour I'm sure he is just as nice as he looks. A big fat FO to the client!!! ;) xx

Not had many say things to me but I did have to tell a client to get dressed and get out - during a sports massage he got a little over excited which ok sometimes can happen through no fault of their own as a physiological thing, but he then proceeded to move the drape and rub himself :smack: I calmly stated we are finished right now, I am going to wash my hands, you better be dressed when I return. Luckily for me he was and I took the full amount and sent him away with a sheepish look on his face

I am seriously laughing out loud at some of these replies!! I had a client say to me once, "Arr I think you're really pretty, if I was as fat as you I wouldn't be that attractive..." I mean, is that a compliment or an insult???? I think she realised what she said & went bright red!!! lol Jeez...

I had a right one yesterday!! I'm still shocked. Was telling her about the mishap I had had getting my children's passport (I.had sent a laminated birth cert) and I was worried it wouldn't come in time for my holiday. Her reply was 'I don't know why they are so strick its not like your black' !! It literally winded me!! I had no idea what to say!! Thinking about it I wish I had said 'well actually they are' ... But I was just to stunned! Im either very nieve or lucky to know nice people, as I've never met anyone who'd openly express a racist comment with some one they hardly knew!!

In the uk we see Americans to be so nice and polite and can't do enough to help. Always cheery and "have a nice day"ing everyone. Suppose it's a lot different when you live there though.

I think in the larger metro areas people are certainly more opinionated, in the rural areas its so much more relaxed and down to earth.
Also, I've seen and heard many similar stories and things said to my stylists and such. I've only encountered one or two clients like that. I'm male and look like i should be doing construction rather than working in a salon. So perhaps they just think the rude remarks instead of actually opening their mouths.
And the racist issue. I just hate that! I don't use the word hate ever!! Just ignorance at its worst!
I've asked and escorted a client out of the salon before and asked they not come back, its rare but at times its better business not to do business.

I had a client who was lovely, probably in her fifties, I'd been doing her nails for a few years. One time we were talking about our ages and how the ageing process was affecting us (as you do!). She then went on to comment that it was difficult to guess my age because I carried so much weight on my face! Bloody cheek!
Can you believe it, she then won the blinkin lottery as part of a tescos syndicate :(
Never saw her after that. I hope she's piled on the pounds hee hee!

I was shocked when she said it!! I didn't know how to respond!! Lol..... "Erm..... Lovely weather today isn't it!!"

I've had a few rude people...

One woman in trying to sell me some loyalty scheme, although I'm almost positive it was a scam, but she was looking me to pay over so many thousands to join the same scheme that the like Tesco & Superdrug were in (even if it was real like how would I even be in the same league to benefit from something that would benefit chain stores like that!!) - but she was being quite forceful with it & then she said something like "It would probably be over someone like you's head, but trust me it works!" ....ummm yeah, I actually have a Law degree & a post grad dipolma biatch - which is prob more than she has!

I had one lady refer to me as damaged goods because I'm an unmarried mum, but she wasn't saying it to be hateful, she was giving me "advice" - still a raw subject so that upset me. But even out of work I've had people say really rude things about it, even health visitors who should know better!

Hahahahahaha I'm from Louisiana, but I'm by far the "whitest" person I know. You can see my veins, too. I was at the new neighbors house yesterday. Her daughter asked "are your feet glowing?" I had to look. In the twilight, they DID look like they were, LOL.
