Sorry to sound thick but can someone explain to me what cnd additives are? How do u use the pigments with shellac to
Get a variety of colours... Seems to be a large selection of colours. Thanks
You mix the colour you want and just pat it on to the inhibition layer over a colour of your choice and the magic begins.

And to the poster who says you can't make the colours pale because there is no pure white additive? Well I can!!! And I also have a white additive! Lol. And although CND did not invent colour theory ... They are the ONLY nail company who has ever had classes to thoroughly and creatively teach their technicians all about it and they have done so for years and years! Which is why we are all pretty good at both teaching it and doing it! :) great class and I thoroughly recommend it if you want to broaden your horizons.

So is it the same procedure as rockstar nails? Also how do u get the fade look?

Yah they have arrived here and I will be getting some next week!! :) can't wait to have a play!

First country in the world for the new year but last for everything else ha ha

Nail technicians are not known for their patience when there is anything new around. You are blessed to live in such a beautiful place.

And I also have a white additive!

Which is the white additive? All the ones you can use to make paler colours have sparkle or glitter in them (or so I thought?) Or is there a second release of additives coming and a pure white is on the way?

I have found a way and everything is CND!

Hmmmm intriguing!!

First thing that entered my head was white acrylic powder?!?!

Can you add a teeny tiny amount of that at all?

Well done ... Someone who thinks with the brain God gave them. i've been using it for ages to make pastel colours with adfitives and have many colors all mixed up and ready to go. Looks beautiful and lasts the distance. I don't even see a difference in soak off time. Brushes on beautifully with a soft eyeshadow brush (I do not use a dry gel brush for this). Try it! It opens a whole new world of possibilities.

So users of the additives who don't use cnd l&p have to buy white powder? Which you can't buy if you are not trained in using cnd l&p? If we use another brand of powder then surely we are mixing systems and that's not allowed.

I see that would work. I'm starting a natural nail business (at least to begin) so would never have thought to use acrylic powder! Well done lisag11. :D

Not sure though I would be allowed to buy cnd as I'm not qualified in that area of nails! I hope cnd will bring out a pure white pigment. It seems an obvious one to me. Using acrylic is a neat solution but not ideal.

Yes, it does really beg the question of what you can use if you don't happen to be trained in L&P?

I have said how I do it. Like all creative people, I find a way to get a safe solution and result.

CND do not teach this method ... It is my method. If you do not want to use it or can't use it because you are not a full-service nail technician, then try white pigment from another source like Mac. Keep it safe. I have never used white pigment ... Only the Perfect White Powder.

ooh mine arrives today and i cannot wait to play!!! keep the ideas coming ladies xx

Mine arrive today between 12 and 1pm !!!! Has anyone tried yet blending the additives in a mixing jar with say Gelish simple sheer (which is almost transparent) to make colours for full coverage or detailed nail art?

Or the same and adding a drop of sheek white in to lighten the additive?

I'm an L&P girl and the only gel product I use is Gelish, but i'd like to recreate the 'groovy' design with gelish in this Video....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEjQS1kdXWA&feature=plcp

I've used additives with Bio Sculpture Gel and have had brilliant results and so far and no service problems. HTH

I have a question about additives as per the promo email I received from CND regarding how to create Olympic nails - (the step-by-step for the Olympic gold nails which has the olympic rings on it.)

The step by step says to make the rings, by mixing additives with ISA to make a sort of watercolour paste. Dip the end of a thin tube into the paste and dab onto the nail to make the circle.

That's all fine - but then it says to cure this for 2 minutes. What I don't understand is how this "paste" cures, as there is no uv-reactive product in the paste?

Can someone explain how this "watercolour paste" cures in the lamp? Or am I missing something really dumb :)

Just saw your reply and thank you :) it is a beautiful country but behind slightly! and you are right we are not patient ha ha seeing the Cnd rep next weds yah!!!

When I read the instructions I thought it sounded strange too, they talk about 'locking' the design for 10 seconds too but what are you locking? Perhaps it is to make sure that any tacky layer you have disrupted is cured and also to evaporate the alcohol in the additive paste you made?

I've seen a few of the professionally done ones on the athletes and have to say they look pretty messy - but maybe that is just because I'm comparing them with the CGI Art on the press release... I'd rather achieve this look with nail decals but then I suppose you have to stock these and what do you do with them after the olympics.

Here's a pic of a Soby Robson olympic look (on Lily Allen) useful to compare the hand painted union jack flag with Rebecca Adlingtons - I think it is pretty safe to say that either someone in the nail porn team used wraps or that they aren't responsible for Rebecca's nails..

Has anyone been able to make a blue shade without the blue additive?!
I know that sounds strange.... I thought I had ordered the blue additive but when my order came it wasn't there - obviously got over excited when ordering and wasn't paying attention!
I have most of the Shellac colours and of the additives I have : red, yellow, pink, green, black and shimmer.
I am going to have a play with the colours tonight to see what I can come up with but was wondering if anyone knew a mix to make a blue....
Thanks in advance!
