Hi all,

I'm really confused and frurstrated. I've just been on the phone to S2 regarding doing a converstion course to L&P.

I have just qualified in the silk system but now I want to do L&P. I was told by a tutor at college that all I would need would be the one day basic course. However I have just spoken to S2 and they have told me that I have to do the five day course which includes anatomy etc. However, I have just done a 32 week course and studied all that. I am also confused because I have interpreted S2's description of the course that the one day course would be suitable for me as it says the course is designed for existing nail techs who hare qualified in L&P or students looking to expand their service to offer L&P, which obviously that would be me. So why can't I do the basic course ~ I'm confused!

Below is what S2 have said on their website.

"The Liquid & Powder Basics course is designed for existing nail artists who have been trained with other brands of liquid & powder or students looking to expand their services to offer liquid & powder as part of their service menu. This 6 hour class covers the basics of working with CND's award winning Retention+ using tips and is meant as an introduction to the system."

Have I interpreted it incorrectly? I'm just so confused!

Do you know what qualification you received from your first course? S2 may not recognise that qualification.

The Foundation course is over 5 days to learn L&P because you have never done it before. you don't seriously think anyone could teach you to do l&P in a 6 hour class do you? :o

Of course you need Foundation .. just because they cover some things you have covered before does not mean you spend 4 out of 5 days covering those things. Revisiting anatomy and physiology does no harm to anyone. All of the rest of the course consists of teaching you how to do L&P plus the chemistry behind it etc. The Foundation is exactly what you would need as they told you quite rightly.

Actually Geeg, yes I did! Lol. :smack:

But Geeg ............. it's confused me when they say "Students looking to expand their service menu"!

Hi Helen,

I qualified in Acrylic/silk system hun. It isn't L&P :(

x

L&P is not silk/fibre glass, you have never been tained in L&P so i would think you would need to do the foundation, I would suspect that it would be the same if you could only do gels and wanted to do L&P you would not be able to do 1 day basic. Completley dif systems xx

If it has taken 32 weeks to get to grips with wraps which is a very very simple system, uncomplicated chemically and easy to learn the mechanics of doing, then I can't believe you would think all you would need would be a 6 hour class to get to grips with L&P which is technically much more difficult plus learn to build a 3d structure with a brush with which you are familliar, much more complicated chemistry, correct mix ratio, touch, technique etc. etc. etc. I'm amazed that you thought that ... truly and after being here on the site as a member for months that you did not pick up on that.

It would definitely be a Foundation Class you would need.

No, sorry, it was 17 weeks for the man/ped and 17 weeks for nail tech. What I meant was we had been studying the anatomy for 32 weeks! Lol.

Well i'm just being honest Geeg, I did think that L&P could be learnt in 6 hours :o I just thought that it was just a case of learning how to mix the ratios and how to use the brush! Obviously NOT! Lol.

And in my defence, I was going by what I had been told by a "professional". Also I have NEVER had L&P nails or actually seen them be created until I watched a video of it on another site! So forgive my ignorance. I won't make the same mistake again Geeg, lol.

I know it must seem frustrating to you but if you save and do the foundation I think you will never look back and think this is rubbish I have done this already, every class you do your eyes will be opened more and more !
The CND teachers all seem to have a gift for knowing the leval at witch there student is all ready at , they can teach everything from foundation to grand master and they more than likely still do one 2 ones every now and then with the grand masters on there books,
In each class you can find students new and old from different collages with different techniques , and some times long time pros who have been working in a salon for years and want to convert to CND.... Still in each of the classes you here all the students say things like "OH didn't know that" so the teacher you get will make sure there is always something for you to learn.
Wraps are really a million miles away from L&P Hun ,even just the technology behind it there is so much you will learn ,
With wraps you haven't even started to battle smile lines and bead sizes :) thats when the fun starts! lol X
