I was just watching the marine spa pedi video on the cnd website, and I love how they were set up for the pedicure. For those who haven't seen the video, they had small bowls (about the size of a dipping sauce bowl) filled with all the different products used in the service. These bowls and the products jars were set up in a really nice display on a table/trolley next to the therapist.

I thought it looked really nice, and like it suggested in the video would help with portion control. My immediate thought was to run out and buy some little bowls and trays to do this in my salon.

I'm a bit worried about wastage though... What if you set this up and the client doesn't show? Or if you end up having a bit of product left in the bowls afterwards? As we know, CND products aren't cheap:green:

What does everyone else think about this? I'd like to know if anyone else does this or something similar and whether it really is a good idea or not?

At the moment I use my products straight from the jar/bottle which is fine, but I do like to add something different. I feel these finishing touches really stand out to the client and it's something they remember about your salon that the salon down the road doesn't do.

couldnt you just put your normal amount in the dishes? I know what you mean it does look very professional

Yes it looks great but i was thinking about the waste aswell!

Hi,

Can anyone please tell me where to watch this video? I've been on the site but don't know where exactly to go. Thanks

Thank you Dellaznailz. I've logged on and I'm watching it too.

Cheers:)

Maybe i'm missing something here. Why would there be any waste? Couldn't you jsut put any left overs back? Or havei missed something?

I thought it might get a bit messy trying to spoon it back into the jars. It could be a bit un-hygeinic too, if it had been sitting uncovered on the trolley. I often get small flying bugs in the salon, I can't keep them out. They could possibly land in the uncovered product, so I wouldn't want to tip it back into my jars

My personal feeling is, once I decant something, I don't put the remainder back in its original container. I'm weird that way. :o

We did things like this at the last spa I worked in and yes, there would be plenty of times where a no-show or late client problem happened and the product would be sitting out getting crusty  Sometimes I would just put the dishes out on my desk ready to go and wait until the customer sat down THEN I would fill each dish. It may take a minute of your service time though..

I think I'm going to get a the dishes anyway... I'm still a bit worried about waste from putting excess product out in the dishes though, but I've thought about how to keep the product fresh. When I'm setting up for a pedi, I'll put the product in the bowls and sit them on a nice tray. I'll put the tray in the fridge, then I can just quickly bring out the whole tray when the client arrives. If the client doesn't show, the product will stay fresh in the fridge untill my next pedicure. I usually do a few pedis each day so I'm thinking this will work. My salon fridge doesn't get too cold (it's not for food), so this shouldn't change the consistency of my products.
