Hiya,

Can anyone tell me ( I am ringing CND tomorrow but want to know now!) if the CND Masters program would be equivalent to an NVQ level 4? I'm going to do the masters but need help with funding for me and a member of staff and i've been told that if CND can justify its masters program as the NVQ equivalent i can get funding. Can anyone help?

CND actually teach to a higher standard than NVQ but i don't know what the governing bodies view is,
i do have a friend that trained with CND and she was on the dole and they payed for her course,
you would be best to ring them hun and get the proper info hth

Please keep us updated! This sounds wonderful and interesting for the Immigrant; if I could get assistance paying for more education, I'd die of excitement!

Will keep you updated!

I wish someone would help me fund mine !

Education is an investment that pays for itself!

Masters will teach much of your underpinning knowledge, however the NVQ is an assessment process and will need to be done separately (part of the process is showing your underpinning knowledge). This is also the first I have heard of a level 4 in nail technology. What units does it include?

Hiya,

The lady i was talking to about funding has said that if i can get CND to say the masters program is equivalent to an NVQ level 4 then i can get some funding towards paying for it. There's a few phrases she quoted that state the criteria the course needs to meet to be entitled to the funding:

"A complex, technical, creative professional or similar field of activity where the individual will be using a high level of skill and knowledge, as well as working with unpredictable and non-routine activities accross a variety of contexts"

Training should enable "An effective practitioner in a technical, creative, professional, para-professional, managerial or similar area, able to work effectively in complex and unpredictable situations"

After you should be "Able to take responsibility for own practice and area of work, plan and manage activites and projects and where appropriate manage, advise or support others"

If CND can say this is the case during and after the masters program, i should be able to get help.

well, there is a lot of Creative in those phrases :D

AFAIK, nail NVQ's are only defined to level 3. NVQs are also only designed to establish minimum level of capabilities, hence the reason Louise said that Masters go far beyond that.

The Masters program would take care of most of that criteria, but I can only assume that there would be some sort of a check and balance for the funding as a lot of people could say that about a lot of different courses!

HTHs!
