Hi!
I have a CND uv lamp, it’s not worth me changing to the led lamp at the the moment but I know CND are discontinuing the bulbs & was just wondering if unbranded uv bulbs would be ok to use as long as I got the wattage right?

No, it's not about wattage (thats the amount of electricity they use) it's about the spectrum of light they emit.

So i’m guessing no other bulb would be suitable then ☹️

Unlikely to be honest, the CND lamp is quite specific regarding the light spectrum range it cures at, that's not to say a specialist lamp company won't have them. Lets face it CND bought them from somewhere in the first place to put in the lamps, so someone sells them, it's just tracking them down. I'm not even sure where the CND lamps are manufactured anymore, many years ago a lot of their products were manufactured in Mexico but I have no idea now so I couldn't even begin to know where to find them. I know they come up for sale on eBay sometimes, you run the risk of them not being CND originals but it's worth keeping an eye out.

Most techs have moved to LED now, hence the discontinuation, however I know the LED lamp is troublesome for toes and some nail clients

Thanks for your advice. A new lamp is a cost I can’t afford right now but might give a generic bulb a go on myself & see how it works out.

You won't know, gel polish will harden at 50% cured but it's not fully cured and uncured product on the skin leads to potential allergy and over exposure.
This is your business, your career and your reputation - don't skimp on yourself

Fully understand that.
