hi all,i just wondered what all you geeks do when you have colds and coughs as i seem to get them fairly regular and i end up having to cancel appointments due to my cough,i usually let people know that ive got a cold so they can decide if they still want to come is that what you geeks do? do you just not say anything? or do you re arrange appointments for when your over it?
thanks for any replies.xx

I tend to ask my clients if they still want to come...(they always do) if so i solider on and work through it if i can...funny how doing something can sometimes take your mind of it.

I would have to pretty poorly to actually cancel clients....but i guess one persons cough and cold isn't always the same as another persons.

As most colds are passed on by hand to hand contact, the best way to fight the chance of picking up one in the salon is to wash your hands and use CND Cool Blue hand sanitiser both before and after each and every client..

This simple (not to mention polite) precaution will vastly reduce the chance of you or your clients contacting colds and flu from each other.

thanks for your replies,i like to give them the choice but i usually always end up with a really bad cough which is when i dont really like having to do peoples nails and be coughing my guts up,lol.
i do agree angie that sometimes i find doing it can take your mind of the problem its just a shame it doesnt work when im cough and i dont even smoke, lol.xx

thanks for the info gigi,i need to place an order soon and i presume nsi must do something similar so it will be on my list.xx

You could always put on a facemask and just explain to your client that you have a bit of a cough and thats why your wearing it, im sure they would appreciate that. If your doing that and using sanitizer im sure they'd be happy enough, i think i would be anyway

I call clients ahead of time to warn them and give them the option of rescheduling.
I also wear a mask. I use hand sanitizer more frequently than usual.

AND (here's a secret that's rather embarassing)....
if my nose is running out of control.. to the point I can't work without blowing every 2min (which means sanitizing hands all over again every single time...) I wear a mask and shove tissue up my nose LOL
Halfway through the service, I excuse myself to the ladies room, blow my nose and change tissues :lol: Then put my mask back on.
No one knows about how silly I look but me

Hiya, i have to be really sick to cancel clients. Like the others, i keep my hand sanitizer handy. Its also important to use it in front of your client, where they can see.

If i have a cough, i also explain to my client and say i hope they don't mind me keeping a water bottle handy, or a hot drink, whilst also getting one for them, obviously.

And, i know more than a few therapists who carry out the tissue/nose trick, usually during massage, lol.

Doing both is more effective. I learned everything in the world there was to know about hand sanitising when my baby grandson was in the hospital ... now I am a bit compulsive about it .... but I havent been sick from a cold or flu for years ( but I better not say it to attract it to me).

it sounds stupid but ive never really thought about me catching anything before ive always just thought about my clients but i think its definately time i started to think about myself too.thanks again for the advice.xx
p.s i think i jinxed myself as i only said to someone last weekend that i havent had a cold for ages,so i suppose it serves me right, lol.xx

my clients automatically know when ive got a cold ive got a mask on and a tissue shoved in there to catch the drips. Even when ive got a cough and a cold I automatically without thinking turn away and cough. I sanatise after every cough and sneeze and im constantly washing my hands
