Hi i have just recently started spray tanning but i am keen to be able to do all aspects of beauty. Im not sure if i would be better going to college part time to do the full course or by doing the quick courses?
I have 2 children with another on the way,i stay near Glasgow.
Does anyone have any advice on what would be the best thing for me to do?
Thanks x

I have salon, and 3 kids, so full time work and big family, don't have time for full time studies. Part time in college where 20-30 students - tenagers... not for me I am 34. So got great ongoing course of NVQ level 2 and will be going on level 3 in Hair and Beauty Academy , for me its privat so have to pay, but really small - 120 per month. Great tutor, 4 in class, only once a week!!! Done 3 blocks out of 9 for 4 weeks!! Hope to finish really fast!! HAPPY!!! and wish you the same!!

Any ideas on how i could locate something similar in Glasgow? As that sounds ideal and not as expensive as other courses.

sometimes you just have to make decisions in life... i chose to be a beauty therapist and put in the work - full time for 2 years (H.N.D) not including the 1 year full time N.Q. (because i didn't think i was quite ready for the course - despite being more than eligible with 6 "A" grade and 2 "B" gcses and more than 5 highers) btw, this isn't including the constant training i put myself on - at least £250 per month.

if i choose to be a nurse, doctor, astronaut or accountant - i will go back to university/college and study it properly.

before you part with your hard-earned, my advice to you would be to ask what qualifications these courses offer you and then ring around your local salons and ask if they would employ anyone with these...

xxx

A qualification on a bit of paper is not going to make you a good therapist that will be able to run a successful business. So many people fail in beauty because basically they cant do it because they have had rubbish training, its a long ongoing process.

i totally agree! training is always a long, ongoing process - just like it is in any job... you get good doctors and bad doctors, good accountants and bad accountants... but show me a firm who will employ a doctor/accountant/therapist without the relevant qualifications xxx
