Hey all,
I have searched through threads on this, but would like a specific answer to do with young nails.
My question is.. how do you do glitter tips? Can you just mix clear with glitter? Would that be dense enough? Would I use flex or build? What do you use?

Also, the other day was my first time mixing the colours to do coloured tips, and frankly I wasnt happy with them. They ended up toothick. I mixed red, and white, and some glitter, thinking they would have a hint of glitter in them but they didnt...
I cured them, and then added some clear mylar (I think thats what they are called) for some sparkle.

I lost confidence because my client told me she was trained in nails aswell, so I got all nervous. Im wondering if I should of added flex in with the mixture? Are you supposed to do that? Also, I probably shouldnt have put the glitter in, as I think thats why it was so thick.

Thanks for listening, and advice/tips appreciated.

Hi Milly,

I will try to answer your questions :)

I use flex to make all of my glittertips. The Illumination kits are the best for mixing with clear to get it dense. (i think you mean opaque/covering right?) Or more darker colors from other kits.

To get the best result with glitters and a color, i always make the color first, apply and cure. I mix a small amount of flex with the glitter of the clients choice and apply a thin layer on the tip. This saves you a lot of glitter and the glitter won't get 'lost' in the color.
Or: If you want to have more coverage from a glittermix you can also mix a bit of color into flex and add glitter. Try to keep a 1:3 ratio for mixing glitters, if you mix too much glitter into your gel, it won't cure properly.
