Hi all. Been having this problem for a long time now, only happens with certain colours but when the nails come out the lamp the free edge has shrunk leaving it a white tip. I’ve done all prep properly, cured for long enough & shaken the bottle, please help its driving me mad!

It would help if you say which product you are using. It is not an usual problem with cheaper brands of gel polish.

Are you dry brushing foundation after curing?

Maybe try flash curing 2 nails at a time (should only be needed for the first coat) x

@cheekychick, what do you mean by dry brushing? TIA x
After curing your foundation coat you wipe over the surface of the nail with a clean dry brush to take off any excess tackiness. Stops shrinkage x

Suppose so, as long as it’s lint free, something like kitchen towel

Could be a number of things:

Bottle needs a gentle stir as contents have settled inside

Temperature of the gel

Temperature of the room

Oily skin surrounding the nail causing the product to pull back

Foundation coat too thick

Applying colour coat too thick
Etc.

You have to give the nails a good scrubbing with acetone but that's only one part of it. All gels will shrink. Good gels shrink less. Cheap gels shrink more.

Also you shouldnt dry brush the foundation. There's no need to. A good polishing technique will eliminate a lot of problems.

I guess you can dry brush gelish but, to me, i think a better polishing technique eliminates that step.
