I am after a coloured gel, as I do Brisa gel but need some different colours.

I did a set of Brisa gel nails the other day (pics on my profile) I did the gloss top coat and then cured for 2 min...once done I wiped the nail then painted on a colour varnish, on one hand I used a Base coat the other I didnt to see the difference.

They took a while to dry so after a few minutes I put another Gloss coat on top and cured for 2 min.

When I went to wipe them, the varnish was coming off?

Can anyone help me and let me know wherer I went wrong?

Thanks

Hi,

I´m not sure why the varnish was coming off... Had it dried thoroughly before you applied the finishing gloss? Was the nail still wet with Scrubresh, that would definitely cause problems with varnish as it has acetone in it...
Just some thoughts. :)

About coloured gels, have you tried the Brisa Bolds collection?
They are on top of my to-do list as with them one can create pretty much any colour!
Then I´ve learned from other topics that some techs create colour gels either by mixing a bit of nail varnish with gel, or by mixing coloured acrylic powders with the gel. These are tips worth giving a try, too! :green:

1. As far as I am aware, you cannot put UV Finishing Gloss over polish, especially polish that has only dried for a few minutes! Use a top coat like CND Air Dry (fantastic product - fast drying and super strong) or CND Super Shiney.

2. The difference in using a base coat is in how smooth the polish goes on and how long the polish LASTS, not in how it looks!! Of course you couldn't see a difference.

Well it is easy and fun to do. You get the Brisa Bolds collection and there is also a Shimmers collection of gels which comes with little mixing trays and you mix the colours together to make hundreds of different colours.

Now I can see how this is a little daunting if you don't know how to mix colours and because of this, I intend to post some different mixes to get you started. But a few basics help.
I'm sure you know that adding white gel to any of the bold colours will make a lighter colour 1.e. red plus white = pink etc
Blue + red makes purple + white = lavender
Red + yellow = orange
Adding black makes any colour deeper.
Brisa Black gel will be in the shops shortly.

With just half dozen colours you can mix hundreds of colours and it is fun and clients love to watch. Plus it is so much cheaper than buying lots of different coloured gels that sit around waiting to be used.

Personally I do not store the colours I make. I cure the last bit of colour I've made on the little tray ... save the recipe on the back of the tray ... and recreate it when needed. You don't need to make much of one colour to do all 10 nails. It is a very economical way of offering coloured gels for those who are artistic and brave enough to have a go!

Excellent advice, again!
And the tip about adding white to create pastel colours is great, especially now that summer is coming! Hopefully Black Brisa gel is available soon, I am a black lover and would love to create darker colours as well...
We´ll just have to wait and see. :)

It is due in any day now. Keep checking.

Don't forget the Shimmers collection add a lovely twist to the colours too :)

Thank you that is brilliant tips and advice. I will try this.

I know black is avaliable as i called earlier to enquire about the colours and she said they have black?

If you could post how to do this it would be brill.

I have just bought some glitters from a local nail shop, could you advice the best way to mix these with my Brosa Gel?

Thanks again
