Hi

Another question all - if I get some coloured tips how would I do the rebalance / infill / backfill? Would I need to find a matching coloured gel to hide the free edge of the natural nail? (not sure if I'm making sense here....)

If you are interested in having/doing coloured tips i wouldn't buy coloured tips...i would just buy coloured gel and use that to create the coloured tip look...that way you have what you need to hide the growth at rebalance time.

It also makes it alot easier if the client decides she has had enough of that colour and wants either another colour or natural/french...you simply file off the coloured gel and use white/natural instead of having to soak off the coloured tips you have applied and re-tip.

You could try matching it up with a coloured gel but you may find it hard to get an exact match.

Try using a coverage pink on zone 2 & 3 so you get more wear out of them before you have to do a back fill.

Also when ive used a coloured tip in the past and come to a backfill ive used a different colour and done a fade on to the old tip so it has a two tone affect.

Cant really offer any more help than that chick (head a bit fuzzy with painkillers) if i can think of any other way i'll let you now

ah yes I think that would be a better idea. I have been flicking through the salonserve / sina catalogue and note they have tons of coloured / glitter gels. Anyone know if they're any good??

Couldnt say chick, ive only ever used NSI gel and Calgel. Maybe some other geek will be able to say.

I use coloured tips and have matching acrylic but really its easier to use a natural or clear tip and use the colour acrylic/gel/glitter to go over .....

Some clients want the coloured tips so the back of the nail tips look the same colour....

I really only really use black tips and citrus coloured jigsaw tips.....

Trial & error really to see what suits you, but natural/clear tips and the coloured gel/acrylic is easier......Also alot of the coloured tips are quite thick.

And as Angie said if they have a coloured tip then change their mind they have to be soaked off.
