Like many other people who have posted threads, I am considering purchasing a tanning machine, mainly for the use of mobile work. I am seriously considering the T200 from Tantrick as it is highly recommeded. My first concern is that it will be a major disapointment in comparison to the larger system I use in a salon (Tantrick Minimist Pro). Second concern - Nobody seems to be able to recommend any compressor systems. From what I gathered about the technology they are better.
Can anybody recommend a compressor system over the T200 and a descent gun please?

You will not be disappointed with T200,
i too use the mini mist pro in the salon and i can understand your concerns as it is a great machine,
but i also use the T200 if i travel to teach or for teaching in academies and colleges,
the T200 is great, and i would definitely buy another T200 if i needed to,
i cant help with the compressors as i don't use them, i prefer the HVLP,
hth

I have a compressor and only use it now for airbrushing body art, tried it for tanning with an HVLP Gun and hated it. I now use the T200 for tanning, quicker and easier to carry around

What problems did you have with the compressor system? Do you not find the T200 slow to apply? The gun doesn't look all that either, do other guns perform better?

You can apply a tan with the T200 in 5 mins or quicker

Can you use the spray gun off the minimist pro on the T200?

You can do but the T200 gun works very well,
where exactly are you, if we have a trainer in your area who uses a T200 i am sure they would be happy to let you have a go with it so you can see how well they work, hth

The T200 is way way faster than the compressor. The problem I had with the HVLP gun on the compressor is that there are 3 controls to deal with, air flow, solution flow & spray pattern from circular to oval and I found getting this spot on was a nightmare, firstly you set air to solution flow but when you open the spray pattern to oval it starts to get more tricky - obviously when you are opening the spray patter up it requires more air and if you don't have the airflow exactly right then you run out of air pressure before reaching the bottom of the legs lol the psi should be at 20 and dip only to about 15 or so, 10 at a min but i found if it was not set right the pressure could drop to zero before reaching the ankles and consequently you are then not spraying anything! The spray width I was getting is only a couple of inches which is far less than the T200 - when I first saw the width of the spray I couldn't believe how wide it was - hence you can cover the body quicker. Another problem I found was that with the valve open to control the spray pattern, having to increase the airflow meant also having to increase solution flow and I used a lot of solution and also had a fair amount of overspray, infact I put kitchen towel under clients feet and it would be covered after spraying with my compressor but you can't really see anything on the towel after I have sprayed with the T200 and i'm done in less than 5 mins as opposed to 15/20 mins previously.

I put a lot of effort into trying to get the gun set up correctly including lots of calls to suppliers of equipment etc and probably went a bit over the top with it but I knew it was just not 'right' nobody was ever unhappy with their tan but it just wasn't for me... I'm in no doubt that the compressor is a more robust machine if you are working in a salon and tanning all day back to back but it is heavy to cart around but if you could make it sing then you never know. Most people are using machines such as the T200 or similar now so support for compressors is also limited - if you do want to know a company who trains on compressors & HVLP guns then PM me and i'll give you the details. I still use my compressor to run several airbrushes off but getting the T200 has been a total breath of fresh air for me :)

The pro machine has a slightly more robust gun than the T200 so it has the edge..that's why you pay nearly twice as much to replace it if it breaks.:)

The T200 gun for its price is fantastic but not as good as the pro..price again.

So the best solution for you is to get a T200 for your mobile use but connect the gun from your pro machine..keeping the T200 gun as a spare back up...job done and the best of both worlds for you and your business :green:

Thankyou all for your feedback. It has been very helpful. Just like most of you out there, I'm going with the T200 and maybe swopping over the gun if nessecary. I may go for a compressor HVLP system in the future but only after trying it out myself, maybe at an exhibition or something.

Thanks again.

Depending on where you are in the north west (i'm in the north east) if you are not too far away and seriously considering the compressor setup then you can try mine and see how you get along with it
