Hi geeks

When I was at college training to be a Beauty Therapist many many years ago now. I did some naught things to test my tutors, as I thought they weren't any good.

I had a half arm assesment, When I was training you just used to draw the curtain on and then when you were done you would just tell the tutor and they would come and assess your treatment.

Basically My mum was my client and she didn't have any arm hair, so I pulled the curtain on pretended to wax her and then called my tutor(how naughty).

The tutor came took a look, and said excellent and passed me.

The comes my bikini wax assessment, I broozed the hell out of my friend and got the strip stuck. she still passed me.

I remember leaving college with this qualification that I didnt think i deserved and with no confidence at all.

Im glad to say that Im very confident now and believe that im very good at what I do.

Just wondered if any one else has had any experience like this , for me this was about 10 years ago when maybe we were just numbers.

Thats so funny!! We weren't really allowed to pull the curtains all the way across when we were doing treatments for assessments (only at the sides). That was 6 years ago now. Waxing was so scarey but I still feel that when I left college I wasn't very confident at all. My first employer trained me very well from there and wouldn't let me loose on her clients until I felt a bit more confident. I wonder what colleges are like these days xx

well I only qualified last year and my college was very different! Even if the curtains were drawn, the tutors used to pop in, and unless you did a good job of the treatment and could answer all of the questions they would ask - it was a fail for you!

I once got failed on desincrustation because she said my trolley was a mess! I cried and shouted that I hated the class and didnt want to do it anyway and caused a right fuss!

After I calmed down, I went back and did it again, this time I passed!

Lincoln college (I found) were very strict, my tutor used to fail people for not having their tunic done up properly, for not having hair tied back, for not wearing tights (if you had a skirt on ), for wearing nail polish or enhancements, for not having make up on, for wearing jewellry (I got failed once for leaving a ring on).....the list goes on! Top college in my opinion!

My college has those rules, no jewellery, hair tied back, no enhancements, no polish etc. Even my medical bracelet has to come off when under supervison of certain members of staff.
