Confidence knock

Hi everyone, ive had the worst day at work since i started 2 years ago. I had a lady in today who came in for her eyebrows waxed. I asked her if she wanted the shape changing or just the streys taking out. she said just the strays underneath and the middle so i said ok. waxed underneath then put some wax in the middle to take out the ones going down the nose and at the side so they were in line with the corner of her eye and she told me not to take to much out ( i think it was a good amount so that it matched the other side and was level it was only about 5 hairs that were scattered so looked untidy) she then looked in the mirror at the end and flipped at me and told me she was seriosly p***ed off and im not capable of ever doing beauty again! i then got my manager and she had a word with her. she then asked for a goverment body, i then left the room as to get upset because i didnt want my boss to get into trouble. so she accepted free eyebrow wax's for 6 months (but not by her!! was screamed at me!!) and a free paraffin pedicure. my confidence has been seriously knocked to the point where i dont wanna do it anymore. ive put it on here as you guys probably know wha i feel like!! if its happened to anyone X

oh my gawd! What a nasty piece of work!

Your boss shoud have stuck up for you and supported her staff's judgement instead of pawning to this woman's unfair demands!

What at total cow i feel sooooo sorry for you.

You did the job that you felt was right and what the client asked for and she is being unreasonable and your boss clearly lacks the balls to stand up to a client! She should have sided with you and accepted that she may lose a client but she would have kept a staff members self esteem!
This woman was just out for all she could get for free! Don't worry about it keep your head held high!

What a b****,did she seem off when she came in for the treatment?Probly menopausle,or having a bad day,and you got the end of it,as for the boss I agree she should of stood by you.

yep, I think she came in seeing what she could get for free..........we had a client like that last week. and your boss should have stood up for you and not allowed this woman any freebies, as thats admitting liability. You don't need clients like this coming into the salon.. x

Thanks girls. i dont know what my boss said to her when i left the room though. ive never even had a complaint before and ive been there 2 years so i know im a good therapist, i suppose when you have your first complaint its a bit of a blow! ohh well i suppose it will make me stronger!anyway the bottle of wine and the huge bar of chocolate in the fridge seems to be creaming out!! xx

Totally agree, the woman is probably used to getting what she can by throwing her weight around!
The manager really shouldn't have given in like that imo

i think she was after freebies, we once had someone in the hair salon i worked at, she had been into other salons for colours knowing that she was allergic to them had it done came out in a rash and had a load of freebies ( luckly it was our policy to always do patch tests )

dont worry about it, you know what a friend of mine has just gone into a hospice that really has put a load of thing into perspective, this woman isnt worth getting in a panic about xxx

what exactly did she hate so much?
sounds so extreme! ive heard stories of whole eye brows coming off, without this reaction!!

Whilst I agree that in front of a client the manager should adopt a mollifying tone - after all it doesn't take much for a complaint to get around a town - after the client had gone I hope your manager took the time to talk to you about how to handle difficult situations, and to determine whether there really were grounds for complaint. I'm not having a go, far from it (I wasn't there!). I just hope that you were supported, in a constructive rather than merely sympathetic way. It will help you to grow and develop as a professional.
You're bound to feel affronted and hurt; it's entirely natural. It will pass, I promise.

I know lilly my problem seems soooo stupid compared to that. lizzie 27 i know i only took out at the most 5 eyebrow hairs. if i had ripped it all out then i wouldnt blame her. i coluld kick myself though cause when i walk away i always think of something to say! i clam up when something like this happens and my face looks like a tomato ohh well we all have to learn from these things. i just think of all the tips i get and how busy i am and that makes me feel better! xx

well this does make me angry to be honest, there was no need for the way this woman treated you!
next time i hope you have the courage just to calmly ask what is wrong and stand your ground.
shes probably been to every salon in town. just learn from it hun, and forget it.....lol
if i were your boss i would have fought your corner xxx
