i work in a salon mostly every saturday depending on appointments where the owner takes 40% and i get 60% as i supply everything. however after being paid off from my other job im looking to make nails hopefully into my full time job which i couldnt be happier doing.. im in the middle of making some business cards and am struggling to think wether im better off putting on them that im within this salon or make it a mobile or even from my home as im hoping to get my spray tan course done next month which i wont be able to use in the salon as they already have a full time beauty therapist who does this.. it would be ideal if i could find another salon with a room to rent but doesnt seem to be much in my area at the moment :( any advice? or should i advertise nails in the salon as much as i can, i cant decide

You just do whatever your happy with.....but it does seem to be a bit of a waste if your learning spray tanning then not being able to do it! If you think you will be better off.....go mobile or work from home. Weigh up your pros and cons of working for each, profit, client base etc.... Good luck! xx

Hi,

I have my salon in which I run from home...like bella mentioned, you will have to weigh up the pros and cons. You will have to make up flyers and do plenty of advertising if you are wanting to have your business at home, as you will not have the added benefit of walk ins from the public, as you would in a proper salon. If the salon that you are working with at the moment have their own beauty therapist, then find a salon that has a room that you could use for your tanning, and a table out front for you to do nails. It will be ashame if you did your tanning course and are not able to tan clients!

I would also suggest that maybe on your cards you dont put an address and just put your name, logo and phone number, so then that way, if you go mobile, or stay at the salon where you are now, you wont have to get new cards printed?

who's telephone number do you use for bookings?Your own or the salons?
if it's your own how about something along the lines of 'melanie @ whatever the salon's name ' and 'mobile service available'...or along those lines
