Hey geekies just a quick Q!
Recently this was posted on a blog with regards to chosing correct DHA % for tan clients
im intrigued and want to learn what people do to assess the client....

if they are any good they will try and match you to the nearest DHA that will get you there given your specific skin type.

IF ANY geeks would looove to share what they do other than the trial and error routine!!!!!

Thanks geekies

Ok, let's start at the start.
During your client consult u need to take into account their hair and skin colour.

Are they very fair? Freckles, Very blond or red head?

This type of skin suits an 8 Typically.

Take fair skin next , typically pale but not that beautiful porcelain White of a redhead, a 10 is great.

Next olive tones , a 12 is fine

next darker skin, well a 12 is fine but can take more.

General rules are don't go too dark or you risk overloading the skin. Check with client what their expectations are, they may want a lighter look than their skin can take or darker, so it's always best to check!

tigi thats great, i was never taugght any of that info on any tan training courses i have attended, plus i said it to a fellow therpaist what % solution she used and she asked me what i meant so i know that it isnt just me1!1!

excellent thanks for that tigi

Hi Jennifer, another thing you could ask when faced with someone with 'ordinary skin' is how she tans in the sun. If she/he burns for the first few days before she goes a bit pink then brown, then 8-10% if they gradually tan nicely then consider the higher % DHA products.:)

I usually start them off with the lowest % for their skin type. If they are pale and burn in the sun then i will start them with an 8%. If they are pale but don't burn in the sun then i will give them an 8 or a 10 depending on what colour they want to achieve.
If they are not too pale but not very olive skinned then i will usually start them on a 10. Some people that are a bit darker can still burn in the sun so this needs to be taken into consideration.
Different people have different PH levels so 2 people who look like they have the same skin type can come out a completely different colour, therefore it's always best to start with the lowest for their skin type. They can always go up a percentage next time. :)

this is all excellent thanks guys
