According to new research, the beauty buying public is increasingly discerning, with a growing grasp on what goes into their hair and skincare purchases.

Sally Penford, Education Manager for the International Dermal Institute, reacted to the information released from Display Sense that people were becoming more watchful about what they picked from retail shelves.

"People have become a lot more ingredient-savvy and a lot more aware of what they’re putting onto their skin,” she says, “as much as we are aware of what we put into our bodies now as well. You can almost tell what a person’s health is like by looking at their skin."

She also encouraged consumers to read labelling on packaging before they buy - and for professionals to help build a more educated beauty audience.
