Coshh

I am having trouble finding some of the COSHH sheets for my products i wonder if anyone can help. I am using Thai manicure, pedicure and facial along with Derma Pro. Also Fake Bake. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hi Charlotte,

You can't get COSHH sheets. You have to write COSHH sheets yourself, using the information on the MSDS, to show that you know how to use and deal with the product/chemical you are using in your, particular, environment

No, you are confusing COSHH with MSDS. Manufactures must provide you with MSDS, by law, but then you must write a COSHH for that product as well.

COSHH is a risk assessment of products and chemicals to show you are using them correctly and safely in your salon. The COSHH is then kept with the MSDS

Ah that must be where i am getting confused then. but do you still need them for everything thing aswel?

Hi, You are supposed to have a MSDS for every chemical/product that you use, but you only need to do a COSHH for the hazardous ones (although you can write COSHH for all of them if you like.

Use the MSDS to decide if you to write a COSHH and/or check the product for a CHIP (the orange square thing on the back). A good example of a couple of products we all use is household bleach and washing up liquid. They both need MSDS. The bleach has an 'irritant' CHIP on the back so you have to write a COSHH. The washing up liquid has no CHIP so you don't need to do COSHH.

There are some instances when you have to write COSHH for hazards that you may be producing, like dust etc
