A regular client of mine has asked if I would give her & her husband a lesson in how to give each other a back massage.I enjoy sharing my knowledge (one of my favourite 'treatments' 'is a make up lesson!) so really think it sounds a great idea for a new treatment I could offer.Does anyone else do this? And also I was wondering if it is ok to go ahead & offer this service or do you need any special requirements (ie teaching qualification etc).

It would all depend on if they want a qualification at the end of your training,
if not and if it is only so they can massage each other then fair enough i guess, so long as you are sure that they can not do any harm to each other,
if they did want a qualification so that they can offer it to other people then yes you need a teaching qualification and you need your course to be accredited, and you need insurance to teach others hth

Thanks for your reply Louise. It would just be an informal one off lesson (nothing to do with a qualification for them or anything).

I am just interested in the idea of offering informal lessons to teach couples how to perform a simple, safe & basic back massage for relaxation on each other only.

I am just concerned whether there are any legal constraints on me offering this at all?

(I am fully qualified itec physiatrics & cibtac body therapy).

The only way to check would be to ask your insurance provider hth
