I am working in a beauty salon but really want to know how to make my own cosmetics and skin care range? Does anyone know any courses available where i can learn how to make and market my own products???

From what I can gather it can be quite costly cos theres lots to consider, allergies, health and safety and insurance springs to mind. I think I would look at that first just to make sure you can afford the initial insurance outlay of selling own products. I believe it can get quite complicated, I could be wrong, but in todays increasingly litigatious society I would be extremely cautious. hth's

It is an expensive process.
You have to buy a license, and then you need to list every ingredient that goes into your products on the label and can not deviate from that list as that is what you have agreed on your license.

I believe you can make about 3 products per license and the license lasts 12 months.

Try looking up amphora for raw ingredients and classes.

I have steered well clear of doing this as it is a bit of a red tape nightmare, but am sure once you get into it and read all the bumpf is easily done.

If you can't find the licensing, i have it somewhere in my stockpile of emails and can dig it out for you.

If you have your heart set on it, I would find a consultant who can write the recipes for you and arrange the licensing for you. I know of someone who does it here in the UK but your rules are regulations are likely to be different there in Oz. All I can say is Google! x

I just started studying a Diploma in Personal Care Formulation through the Institute of Personal Care Science.

www.personalcarescience.com.au and they are on facebook!

You learn how to formulate your own products and learn the rules and regulations of the industry. I read on their website that they also do consultant work, so if you go to them with your idea, they can formulate and market the product for you (pretty much, do all the hard work!)

Hope this helps :green:
