hi guys hope your all well

im having real difficulty in doin a set of l&p with crushed shells embeded in them i have tried by applying a clear tip and i tried picking up the shells with my bead of acryic like i do wen i do glitter tips but i just cant do it for me to get them smooth on top and completley covered the nail looks way too thick.
is there any other way of doing them ??

i was thinking of doing a layer of glue dipping in the crushed shells then overlaying with l&p dont no wether this would work though i need help

thanks in advance xxxx

I don't like using crushed shell to be honest.. I like the effect it gives but I just find it too thick. I have used it but I sculpted with so I didn't have the thickness of the tip as well as the shells. hth

Hi

I have had a similar problem, i coated the tip with glue and dipped it in the shells however it did lift to many but it tried move them around b4 the glue dried, it was ok. i also tried puttin small amounts of glue on the tip then using tweezers to lift & place the shells on the nail...(this was to time comsuming).

I purchased a nail art dvd from NSI & i have been practising liftin the shells with the acrylic this is the best way so just keep practising. its is better wen the brush isnt to wet i find. I have a nail drill I only use from things like the shells it helps smooth them down to a reasonable depth!!!

If anyone else has over tips i would also appreciate it!!!!

Put them in a freezer bag and keep hitting them really hard with a rolling pin.
I'm not altogether sure that's pro advice but it worked for me. x

Hey the rolling pin idea sounds good im gona try that thanks will let u know how it works out!!!

I use them with UV gel and find them great, i pick it up with a bead aplly to desired zone, usually free edge, then do zone 2 and 3, file to desired shape and apply gloss, maybe you could apply and uv gloss over the l&p (there is no problem to file over the crushed shells embeded in the gel, this will thin them out where needed and still maintain the look)

I used some crushed shells once before, but never again.

I got given some glitter in the form of flakes rather than dust from a friend recently which I tried out and it gave the same effect as the crushed shells, without the thickness.

God knows where she got it from but its just an idea.

Hi
I use crushed shells a lot. What I find is theres so much difference in the shells themselves, so if they seem to "big" i too crush them a bit more.

But when I embed them I kind of do a really really thin coat of clear arylic, slightly wet, and then with my brush i pick the shells up (moisten your brush makes it easier) and place them, making sure they are in one layer only, than I can use clear on top and still end up with a perfectly thin nail.

I just mixed mine in with some powder and keep them in little nail art pots..
Then just pick up bead as normal...as the shells are already mixed in with the powder there is no faffing about..

(If I have larger pieces I do crush them smaller before adding to powder though)

If I am asked for crushed shells I always scultp them to help keep them thin and as the others have already said I usually have to crush them up a little more first. x

Like emma i mix my crushed shell with my polymer like you would with a glitter. I find this much easier.

I asume you mean cracked ice and yes it gives a great effect along the lines of shell, shell can be great but you have to make sure the shell you buy is very finely cut slices
