Hi All
Please could I ask your expertise on buying the most efficient and durable cuticle nippers ? I have bought so many and none last longer than a month. Either the spring breaks or the nipper gets very blunt.
Second question I am looking for OPI wholesalers to bulk buy nail polishes etc and I can’t find any on UK.
Many thanks in advance
C xx

Hi, for nippers, I like Tweezerman, 1/4 jaw. HTH!

Staleks tools are fab

Mehaz brand has been a solid go-to for me.

You will extend the life of any tool with sharp edges by NOT leaving it in Barbicide or similar disinfectant. Wash and leave in solution for the recommended time then store according to your sanitation requirements.

Hi Chinju

Why don’t you open a trade account with OPI? They have good opening offers and it’s nice to see the whole range and have a rep visit.

Lots of online wholesalers stock OPI. Here are the biggest companies. It’s worth keeping an eye on more than one company as they often have discount offers. I don’t think I’ve ever paid full price - I always save up my orders for a deal day and if you’re a customer you sometimes get sent vouchers to tempt you.

Bump.

I’ve looked at Stalek but when I look at the range on their website each one it says sterilising isn’t recommended. Does it mean not to leave it in Barbicide and just wash it in soapy water and dry it? Bit confused! Here’s a photo of the details of one of them.

I bought some anyway and will spray with Isopropyl alcohol and wipe dry after use rather than soak in barbicide.

We don't necessarily need to be sterilising our tools as they don't enter the body.
For nail techs, sanitising (washing in warm soapy water) and disinfecting (eg Barbicide soak for the appropriate time) is all that is necessary x

Ah thank you. I completely forgot that disinfecting and sanitising isn’t the same as sterilising 😬😬😬 I always lumped them all together before learning about nails and clearly once I passed my health and safety my brain went back to lumping them all together again 😆 thanks for clarifying!

The label also said that disinfection wasn’t recommended. Weird.

Yeah I figured it means don’t stand them in barbicide maybe? I‘ll contact them directly so they can clarify and I’ll update this thread when I hear back from them. Until then I’ll spray a lint free wipe with alcohol and wipe them over.

I disinfect my Staleks tools all the time? With barbicide...

Staleks is a Ukrainian brand.

In the Ukraine they use autoclaves as standard. There is a Ukrainian refuge near me who brought her autoclave and nail products with her. It’s very obvious that she can’t imagine not having freshly sterilised tools for each client.

I wonder if the notice means no autoclave?

Hi Duchess, I did think that too. I’ve messaged them so as soon as I hear I’ll update this thread.

Oops…sorry everyone, their “classic” range is designed for home use, not professional use, so can’t be “aggressively” sterilised. It was the classic nippers that I’d screenshotted here. (And I’ve bought the wrong ones!) So to clarify, their Pro “Exclusive” range can stand up to heavy use and sterilisation! Sorry about that.
