Hi,

My previous nail tech always used to snip my cuticles but i was told my educator never to do this.

My cuticles grow really quickly (but do not attach to nail plate) what is the best way for me to get rid of this unsightly growth without nipping them?

Thanks

Use a cuticle oil every morning and night xx

I do that as a rule anyway but that just helps soften them. I am tempted all the time to nip them but try not to. Its something I never do on any of my clients but I know lots of other techs that do

I posted in another thread where you repeated this info that you may be muddling cuticle and eponychium. Cuticle should be removed but not the eponychium which may be what your educator is referring to.

Your cuticle is not growing!! Cuticle is made up of dead skin cells which are ex foliated onto the nail plate and attach to it.

So many people call the eponychium by the name of cuticle, which is incorrect. The eponychium does grow and is living; it should absolutely never be trimed. However to solve the thickness problem you can't just use any cuticle oil.

CND Solar Oil actually shrinks this unsightly thick skin Guaranteed ... it does not just soften it.

Trimming it away only makes the problem worse and the eponychium more thick. Do not do it.

after you wash your hands try to get in the habit of rubbing over this area with your towel, after time it stops your cuticle growing so much and seems to that thick skin growing,
hope it helps,:)

For my clients whose cuticles seem to form thicker and faster than average, I recommend that they buy some CND cuticle eraser. They apply it daily in with their Solar Oil routine, and it eats away at the non living tissue before it has a chance to build up. It's also a nice conditioning treatment for the tissue surrounding the nails.

Just a thought- If you are removing the eponychium it will actually encourage it to grow thicker and faster which may be the problem!

It might be an idea to use a hand system cleanse, exfoliate, mask, moisturise containing AHA's for a while, but if your stretched for time, just a cuticle remover containing AHA's, lactic acid etc should also do the trick!:)

CND cuticle eraser does contain AHA and Solar Oil does not but solar Oil has been proved to shrink the eponychium very effectively on it's own.
