Hi all,

I don't want to appear a cheap skate because honestly I am not, however, I don't have money to throw away at the moment and I am thinking of adding spray tanning to my business.
I just wondered if I would be best to go 100% with a tanning company ie Sienna, Tantricks, etc or to buy the compressor, tent, extractor etc off Ebay and then get tanning solution and training direct from the supplier?
I believe having an extractor will be essential to my business because the room I plan to use has no outside walls so consequently has no windows!
I would be most grateful to hear your opinions and advice!!

Many Thanks

Roxie

you get what you pay for !! we train loads of people who have bought there machine on ebay A 5008 is the same price give or take a tenner on ebay as it is from a reputable supplier but you have a 12 months guarantee and customer support from a a supplier
The tents on ebay are around the same price as you pay from a supplier.... but will you get next day refund ect from ebay when you realise you actually have purchased a cheap cloned tent that only folds down 5 times and loses its spring
there are loads of dodgy machines on ebay the hvlp 700 is on there it sounds great but it isnt as good as the maximist range
AND THEN THERES THE SPRAY TAN SOLUTION !!
DHA is like alcohol some is cheap white cider ie synthetic from china and europe, the solutions often offered on ebay contains de natured alcohol and parabens
Other solutions are organic based champagne ;) have natural products in them and no nasties
the kit may be 50 quid dearer from a supplier but you getting quality (in date solution) you are investing in a future business you need some one to fall back on with a good reputation if and when things go wrong
and yes i am a supplier but i daily pick up the pieces of peoples broken dreams and promises who were sold fence sprayers and really poor quality cubicles that came with a solution comparable to gravy browning and offered no support from the ebay sellers :twisted::twisted:

Please please please do your research before you buy.......... there have been an awful lot of threads on here about equipment, especially unfortunate purchases from ebay, not in recent months but if you do a search no doubt you will find them............

Buy from a reputable company that sells Spray Tanning Equipment!, equipment you KNOW is designed for spray tanning and NOT spraying fences!

It is really easy to fall foul by not finding the right information - you have a very good research engine in salon geek so make sure you use it to your advantage and do some research on previous threads etc,

I fell foul not having this site when I first trained quite a few years ago, spend three times as much as I should have on equipment etc......

I had headache after headache for months and months through bad training etc

Eventually, I found Tantrick and retrained with them and never looked back.

Bit long winded but my point is that saving a bit of money now may ended up costing you a lot more in the long run

There are certain things you can buy from ebay - dispoables (caps, underwear, stickey feet) but I would go to professional suppliers to buy your equipment mainly because its not alot dearer and also because you will get a guarantee.
Suntana do a great offer of £350 for tent, gun, machine, 3xsolutions and includes training. So the set up cost would probably only be £500 including disposables and extractor and you could make that back in roughly 25 tans!
hth's

Have a look at Nouvatan and LA tanning company at there machine and tent deals-(best iv seen) then get lots of samples of tan to try before you buy lites of tan you dont like that way your getting a proffesional kit-with telephone support and when you do part with money for solution you have tried enough diffrent ones to be confident you like it HTH x

I agree entirely with what's been said above. Personally I'm always of the opinion that if you don't have the money to do it properly, then don't do it at all!!

Thanks for your very helpful advice everyone, you have confirmed what I wanted to hear!
I'm still very interested to her your views on extractor fans though?

I've recently purchased a extractor fron suntana and i'm more than happy with it. My treatment romm is approx 18 sq ft.
