At the end of the day, like everyone, dentists are in it for the money. Since the government implemented the new contract a few years ago dental health care has gone down the pan. NHS dentists don't make the same income they once did and the only way they can do it is to see 4X as many patients in one day then they did before. Hence why a lot of dentists have turned private. The only problem there is that their prices are not regulated and they can pretty much charge what they want. As for materials... U should get the quality that you pay for but in most cases this is not always the way, they all skimp where they can get away with it. Thus is why work gets shipped to china for completion!. Likewise with NHS, unless they are getting paid for it, dentists will only do the necessary work, even if another option is in the patients best interest. At the end of the day, you get some amazing NHS dentists and some great private ones but equally you get bad versions of both!! Best to try the NHS version first and if your not sure then book a checkup with a private one!
