hmm i knew it would happen soon. because dermalogica are greedy. if i had a salon i wouldnt stock it at all, i think its a rubbish range (personal opinion before i get haters), md formulations all the way
This is your quote ..
Your original statement is a far cry from NOW saying .. there is a wholesaler in Sydney and suburbs that sells to the general public.
I didn't say you LIED (how silly) I said your statement that says in Australia Shellac is freely available to the public is not true. I haven't changed my mind.
There are lots of wholesalers in the USA and the UK that also sell to the general public (not CND I am glad to say). Some make a hew and cry about it ... I don't see it affecting my clientele who wouldn't know what to do with it if they had it.
Just wondering if anybody here has tracked their retail figures? Many seem concerned about loss of exclusive retailing benefits, which I can understand... But have you looked at your numbers to know WHAT effect it is having (if any)?
By increasing brand recognition you should find that more business is driven your way for treatments.
Once in the door it's part of therapists job to sell retail - regardless of where else it is available, surely?
Geeg we have had this conversation before, you suggested I contact Pacific... I did this... just in case your interested. The product is still on display and sells very well to the general public (according to the sales assistant) I don't mind as we have lots of work but I do feel for the nail specialists who are battling this problem.
Hi Geeks and Geekets
We apologise for all the frustration but would like to confirm, with absolutely no exception, all Dermalogica accounts have Qualified Skin Therapists. They must be working with a treatment room available and offer skin treatments.
We are continually looking at ways to ensure all stockists have the highest level of education, and are tackling all educational issues as top priority.
If you have any concerns please do speak to your Business Development Consultant.
Thanks

Wow - a fantastic example of completely ignoring the issues! The issue isn't about unauthorised accounts selling Dermalogica. It is about authorised accounts undercutting small businesses who can't compete with the likes of Jersey Beauty Company who are retailing products at an average discount of around 20 - 25%!!
You can't dictate the price at which product can be sold but you can follow other skincare companies and require that no product is sold online!
Also you say that there must be a treatment room available where products are being sold. Is there one at duty free in Heathrow Terminal 3, or how about Selfridges in Birmingham and Liberty in London?

But your a professional person Geeg in this industry so you understand the fundementals of it.
Unfortunately with the economy and people in the UK being 'tight' as you put it - they wont support therapists and salons when they know they can get it cheaper online.
For instance - a Dermalogica cleanser, toner and moisturiser will cost in excess of £110. So they can spend £110 at the salon there and then
Or
Go online to a discount site and buy the exact same products, choose an abundance of samples and have it delievered by special delivery and recieve it the next morning - the best bit is it will cost you only about £80.
So for that level of service - and unfortunately to the salons affected - these online discount site DO give FANTASTIC service, why would you pay top whack just to 'support' the salon?? People here don't think like that - hence this and many other threads.
It just seems that so many people are out of touch with how consumers spend their money and the lengths they will go to get a bargain.
We know its wrong, but the people spending the money dont care as long as they get it cheap
