Ok,,,, after asking on here about the diabetic client I had a set of new nails to do on..... I have had a disaster!!
She phoned me this afternoon saying all her nails and come off. She said they were fine on the sunday, went white all over on the monday and had just came off on the tuesday. She's bring the nails with her when she comes back.
I prepped so carefully as I always do and even used extra on her with nail fresh before scrubfreshing. I have never had this before and wondered if maybe it could be the medication she is on. Gliclozlide.or something like that, and Ramacole?
Would this cause a problem with the acrylic unable to fix?
She did say her enamels peeled off after about 4 days too..........
I am really puzzled by this. I haven't had any ladies returning with bad lifting and am so fussy about my prep work.
The client was fine but I would really like to try and get to the bottom of this.
Thanks if you can help.......

No hun, gliclazide would not cause lifting like that, all it does is encourage the pancreas to work more efficiently, because in type 2 diabetics the body is still processing sugar just not as well as it should be.
Ramacole? I have no idea because I don't know what she is taking it for or what it does.
How old is this lady? because the only time I have heard of this with a tech who is as good as you is when they were in the menopause or had had chemo in the last 6 months.
If she's on HRT she will probably get on better with fabric/wraps.

Don't know about the menopause. Might have to approach this subject whens she comes to see me next time. I have booked her in for a spa manicure next time and maybe it would be better to work on her natural nails if this is going to be how her nails react to enhancements. She did say she had had them before with no problems but her medication was different then and she wasn't on the gliclazide.
I don't know I really would love to know what caused this............
She hasn't had chemo.
If she is on HRT I wont be able to do fabric or wraps as I havent trained in either of them yet.
Thanks for answering

Hi, I too am on HRT and i do gel nails on myself and have done for 8 years, no lifting, breaking, nothing. I had a client once that was having the same problem as you are describing. I tried everything on her and within 2 days, she had no nails on (i was using gel, it was a gel only salon). In the end this had been going on for too long and her nails were getting too thin, so i started to ask more questions and she too was on HRT. But i also noticed that she oily skin, so perhaps she may have oily nail beds??

Hope this helps.. perhaps some just cannot have nails!!!

I am bumping this one again having seen her yesterday.
She suffers with incredibly hot hands, which I had forgotten until yesterday as I was working on her with a spa manicure.
Would this make a difference to te setting of the L&P. I remember, at the time of her enhancements, I said she was making me work fast as it was setting quickly.
I have just done a nno on her thumbs using Brisa Gel so see how this works on her and then we will take it from there.

You mentioned her hands were hot and that put me in mind of a client of mine.

She came a couple of years ago, saying she would try gel, but that no nail tech had been able to keep acrylic on her for longer than 3 or 4 days. Sure enough, a few days later, they lifted clean away, no stress marks or anything, just lifted straight off. At the time, she did mention that she suffered from excessively sweaty palms and that she was going to have treatment soon.

She returned some months later, having had a form of Botox treatment on her hands which apparently helped the excessive perspiration, and we now have no problems at all.

Just thought this might help. x

If you are using CND Retention+ then neither her medication nor her menopause would affect the adhesion. Her general health condition could!!

If she does have excesively damp or sweaty hands, this also affects adhesion. Only you know.

Then, of course, there are those who just cannot tolerate nail enhancements. It just happens. You cannot always get to the bottom of these things but just accept that they happen and try something else (which you have). Good luck.

We are trying out different things. I.E> The gel. We are doing regular nail treatments...2 weeks a mini mani, then following 2 weeks a spa mani. She's been absolutely fine with it all and is more than happy with the way I am trying things for her.
Thanks everyone
