Hi everyone.
I'm going through a bit of a tough time at the moment. The doctor found a lump in my throat (very similar to what my mum & gran had) and has sent me for blood tests and an ultrasound scan.
He thinks I'm suffering with an underactive thyroid and a goitre (under/overactive thyroid and thyroid cancer having affected 4 women on my mum's side before me).
I have been watching my eating since 2007 (when I was 14 and a size 14) but since then have ballooned to a size 22 - whatever I do, I can't lose weight. Vigorous exercise 5 times a week to no exercise... it makes no difference. 2000 calories, 900 calories... makes no difference. I lose a little then gain a lot
I'm waiting on the blood test results and a letter from the hospital for the date of my ultrasound... I'm quite frightened as my mum and gran both had a total thyroidectomy and I'm concerned I will go down the same road
Anyway, back to the point. I'm not going to give up trying to lose weight, as it's for my mental health as well as physical (I've suffered with depression for 5 years too and being overweight is making me miserable). So I've just ordered a 4 month hamper from Diet Chef... it means I don't have to make the decisions about food except "what do I fancy"!
Has anyone tried it? What were your results like when combined with regular exercise?
Sorry for waffling on guys, I'm really worried that I will follow in the footsteps of the 4 women before me and suffer with my thyroid  - it's really getting me down. Anyone else got a thyroid problem?? It would be great to know how you deal with it...
