About as far South as you can get!
Hello :)

Sorry if this has been asked before, I did a search but didn't come up with anything.

I was wondering if you all use a different brush for your glitter acrylics?

I currently use the one I was given on my CND Foundation for pink and whites and nno's and don't want to ruin it, so would it be a good idea to use a different one or does it not really matter?

Many thanks

Sarah. xx

I use the same brush for all mine, but I have brush cleaner so I clean with that before i change colour. I've only ever really used the pre-mixed glitters from NSI though.

I do ! i have different brushes for different products and glitter :)

I've got a different brush for my glitters, as there always seems to be a wee bit hiding in the brush which jumps into your setting pink or white, which you don't notice until too late! I use a slighty smaller brush for glitters, as I find this easier to get the accuracy I need. I only ever clean my brushes in momomer. xx

That's what I meant to say :) I've been looking at the Ezflow Boogie Nights pre mixed glitter powders, they look fab! I also ordered some 'Ruby Slippers' from Fiona's site tonight, can't wait to get started when that arrives :green: I also need a pre mixed silver powder too if someone can recommend some? Or is it easier to use something like Christmas glitter that you shake onto cards?

Although I do like the look of some of the nails that have been created with glitter from craft shops :D

Thanks for the replies girls

Hi, the boogie nights collections from EzFlow offer a dense silver glitter and a smooth silver glitter in their collections. I think it's walk of fame and carnival.
They are lovely to use..hth :)

I love the Nail Graphix glitter. I did my daughter's tips with lilac and they looked fab but can I ask some advice about filing them? I was scared to ruin them so only lightly filed but should I put a coat of clear acrylic over the top and then file or does filing not ruin the glitter?

Thanks.

I love Ruby Slippers!! Great powder for Xmas. I have a different brush for glitters and only ever clean them in fresh monomer.

I too use a different brush for my glitters AND I also use a different dappen dish - just in case

I cap my glitter tips with a thin coat of clear then file as usual. HTH. Tracy

Hi guys and girls :)

I tried out my new Ruby Slippers tonight just on two of my nails trainer's nails.

I used forms so I could sculpt as I have found I much prefer sculpting to tipping and also I feel I wouldn't do this fantastic glitter any justice if I just put it on a tip (I don't see the point).

Anyhow, I mixed 2 parts clear with 1 part glitter, mixed and applied :green:

I did cap over the top with a thin layer of clear just so I didn't file into the glitter AND I used a different brush and a different dappen dish too (I never appreciated just how far glitter travels!

They are not the best nails I've ever done and my nails trainers nails pop off when I try to even file gently  but for a first attempt at glitter sculpts I don't think they are too bad :) but no pics yet as I want to practice a bit more before I show n tell.

I love sculpting, especially with the glitter cos it looks fantastic from underneath too :green:

Just one other question, when I sculpted I went up to the free edge, not over onto the natural nail, is this best or would you say it's best to overlap a little? I found that the smile line wasn't really to my liking when I just butted up.

Thanks guys

I'd say that would depend on the smile line of your client. If you take it over a teeny bit then you have a little growing room before natural FE starts to show. If they have long slim nail beds you can afford to give them a deeper smile line.

Or you could use a cb pink on zone 2 and 3 first and bring it down onto the form a little to elongate the nail bed. Shape your smile into it and then but your glitter acrylic upto it, then cap in clear all zones. You can get a much better smile line doing it this way.

I've got a set at the moment and I used the reverse technique for them. They are in my album if you want a look :)

Gilly your nails are fabulous! I am finding with my glitter mix that it isn't easily workable, it seems lumpy and hard to move. I have mixed it 1:3 with clear .

Sarah - with sculpting on the trainer hand, I am having a devil of a job getting the form on, is there a trick to it?

Thanks ladies :)
