Hi all,

i was taught to do acrylic with a natural tip, then paint on the white acrylic then the pink acrylic.

a lot of clients have been saying to me that some places they've went done a white tip with just the clear acrylic. is this another method of doing acrylic or, not to be rude or anything, is it a way for salons that don't want to put they effort into acrylics and not to spend too much time on them?

i don't mean for that last sentence to be cheeky for anyone that does it that way.

i just feel doing it with the clear is like cheating....but is this the normal way most people do it?

These are just different methods of doing p&w, I wouldnt say its cheating. I rarely use tips at all. I prefer to sculpt. Different strokes for different folks:wink2:

It shouldn't be considered as cheating exactly ... but it is a quick way for some to do the whites if they are incapable of doing them by hand like you do. Unfortunately there are some draw backs to doing P&W using the white tip method as I'm sure you have already sussed out.

1. If the technician can't use white powder to do smiles, then she cant keep the Forever French look going when it comes time for the rebalance.

2. Unless one uses really beautiful white tips (CND Well less Performance tips for instance that are a pretty white and not florescent white as most are) you end up with fake looking porn star nails as a result. Some people actually like this look  because it is all they see in the celebrity mags.

You stick to your hand made P&W nails, love. If you can do it then I'd inform your clients that they will have a much classier result from you.

I have 3 clients who all insist on the clear over a White tip. Now, personally I am
not fond . I much prefer a pink and White nail. However, the porn star look is what they want, then I'll do it for them . I have shown them pics of pink and whites, but they don't want them.

So as well as bring their nail stylist, I have to give them what they want..... It's not my
favourite look but if they are happy then so be it!

thanks for the replies.

i will maybe try out the white tip with clear acrylic and see what i think myself and maybe take pictures of both so the client has an idea.

i just love doing the p&w so i doubt ill switch over lol
:)
