Hi All,

Please can I ask your advice?

I am a very small home based therapist and I specialise in nails and lashes. I have a generic job and do my beauty as a sideline. It's very much a hobby that's works around the kids and my main job.

I have one particular client who has been coming for about 3 years. She won't let anyone else do her nails. She is really nice but she is ALWAYS late.... Usually 15-20 minutes plus. I gave her an appointment on 28th which was a bank holiday as she wanted her nails doing before she went away. I would normally keep bank holidays for family days. However wanted to make sure she had new nails for holiday.

Anyway she didn't turn up. I text her and called her but nothing. She then text about an hour later to say she was sorry she had flu and it had slipped her mind.

In addition to this she was supposed to pay me by bank transfer on the previous occasion but she hadn't.... This is not the first time she's done this and same for forgetting appointments it's the third no show over about the past year.

She messaged me to say her bank had messed up the payment and paid someone else.

What do I do? She wants to rebook but I'm fed up of her being late, not turning up and not paying me!!!!

Advice really welcome on how to deal with this.

Thank you x

I would ask for a non refundable deposit for her next appointment, this money is to secure her appointment and if she no shows you keep the money, if she shows up she has to pay the cost for her nails & can then roll the non refundable deposit over to her next appointment. If she no shows you at least have that deposit as payment for your time, she then needs to pay another non refundable deposit before you take another appointment for her.

I would refuse to take another appointment from her until the last service had been paid for in full PLUS the new non refundable deposit to secure her appointment.

Great advice from Baggy.

Excellent advice above
