Hi, i am in such a muddle with what i am doing, i have finished my VTCT Beauty Specialist course, have been doing Calgel nails for 3 years and have nearly finished my hairdressing course. i have a room in my house which is all set up but i am just worried that i am doing too much? I have just paid out to do a sienna x spray tanning course, which i am so looking forward to! are there any other geeks who do the lot, i feel my weakest thing is hairdressing should i give it up do you think, sorry for the rant it is driving me up the wall and my husband and i am sure he thinks that it is all too much. I also have three children under 5 so i work evenings and weekends, any advice would be a great help! paula

When do you have time to breathe !!!! Have you got some time put a side just for you, a couple of hours where you can relax ????? You really do need to try and incorporate this otherwise you will end up exhausted and not able to offer a proper service on anything!

I know, my heart really lies with nails and beauty, hair is my weakest i think because it is all new and even when i qualify next month i still feel like a complete novice, i feel like i need a good talking to! Thanks for replying x

Hello gosh you are doing loads and you are obviously passionate about the industry whitch is great!! I do hair dressing and nail technology. What I do is I offer all things nails (enhancemnets-mani-pedi-bit of art) and I offer hair cutting and colouring only. I find this works brilliantly for me. If I was you id find what the highest demand is and do what you love the most. I have not once been asked to do a perm/shampoo and set so there for I dont offer them and I can concentrate on going on to more training with my cutting and colouring and nail enhancements! Hope this helps xxxx

I can understand your dilemma. Both nails and hair can take a fair amount of time to do & in my mind it seems like it would be hard to do both. I don't know which one brings in more business or $$$ but if you're not really 'feeling it' about the hair, then I think what Sarah says about just offering the basics of hair dressing may be the way to go. That way you can spend more time doing the things you enjoy. :green:

What a brilliant idea! I didn't think of that, i love foils, and colouring and cutting but i don't like perming and shampooing and setting, that is what i will do, just offer the basics in hair, i feel so much better now, thanks for replying xx

Wow you are like superwoman, good for you. But yes, you do need to set time for yourself, or else you will end up burning out, and being so exhausted, especially with little ones.

I am with you on the hairdressing bit, I so hated doing perms, sets, etc, yet come to colour/foils/cuts I found more satisfaction.

And now I don't do it, I just do Nails, Beauty + Body Piercing, which is great, I have every Monday off, and every second Saturday, as I was working so much, I could not and did not have enough energy.

Take time out for yourself. ok. Especially being a full time Mum, it is so very hard.

Do you have a certain day off? etc.

I wish you all the best, and if you do have a day off through the week, go and pamper yourself........Massages, watch dvd's etc.

You so deserve it.:):):):)
